  1. Open fleet policy covers anything and to be fair only staff use it as a smoker for leaving around.

As we have the original V5 we have renewed tax online.  I understand the problem will be if we sell it as DVLA won’t issue a new V5 or complete change of keeper.

Bought a corsa from BCA, the history stamps are barely visible without stating on the description, no ticks to state what has been done and then the interior has defect e.g. door handles chrome missing, vents broken. Will they knock me anything off?

Sadly from my experience they will just point at the door.

  3. Best thing to do is put it straight onto something you own and then retain it.

Plate dealers all do this now as they say it was due to someone selling a plate and then putting it onto another car after the sale.  The buyer only found out a year later when he tried to use the certificate he bought.

  4. Slightly off the original topic but one of our runner cars is a Cat B from 2018.  Citroen C1 Airscape, was lightly shunted in the back but recovered with the soft top left open.  Sod’s law, outside during a weekend of rain, insurers paid out and put on register as Cat B but we bought it back for £450.

As we are the only keeper and did not pass the V5 we can keep driving it but will never be able to sell it for road use again.

  5. Main business, doing deals but for no money, everyone in our industry (leasing) must just be working for fun.

Only plus is we have taken a few good PX cars that we have flipped.

Used cars, 7 so far this month, 3 were PX’s we retailed that would normally have been traded straight out.

Odd thing is we have a list of late used to find but still can’t get the stock.

Does anyone have a rough idea of delivery costs.

for example BCA Nottingham to Essex.

We are going to be hitting the online auctions tomorrow as we are being heavily out gunned down here in Chelmsford, Colchester, Enfield etc.

Have found them a little bit and miss for single units so we end up using Movex but if you buy a few (5+) the transported rate can work out more cost effective.

  7. I know we have the thread about Cazoo but has anyone tried BCA’s investment: Cinch ?

It is currently a search for used cars offered by supermarkets and main dealers but I would expect BCA to try and use it as a route to market for newer WBAC stock on a similar model To Cazoo.

To be fair most people probably will probably get bored with the “car choose” which to be fair did genuinely pair me with the car I already own.

i guess that's how they do it with lease vehicles on a personal  or business lease etc with 2 years leases etc

Very similar, an example is VWFS who did a Golf GTI promotion a couple of years back that had over 30% discount to make the monthly rentals really low.

It doesn’t work like that with ford.

Ford dealers need to achieve so many new registered cars to achieve a bonus from ford.  This is why fords will pre register bundles of ford Ka’s and then sell them for £5995 (cost) to hit there new reg bonus.

Well it was like this when I was there.

Regarding mileage and retraction of a registered keeper, I remember fords did it after a customer had it for 400 miles however ive known cars to have 400 miles as pre delivery miles.

I doubt you would get away with much more than that anyway.

Slightly different now for most we deal with.

We have clients with manufacturer terms.  In most cases the deal is constructed of manufacturers terms % and a dealer discount %.  Example a Transit van, Ford Fleet May give 24% whilst the dealer gives 11% giving a total 35% discount of the list price.

There are often conditions and minimum retention periods to stop people buying on fleet terms and selling on for a profit however it does still go on.

As for Cazoo doing this, not a chance, the manufacturers don’t like their retail prices undermined.

Surely if a new car gets returned even after 7 days that would add an owner / devalue it hugely

I would assume they tax the car but hold off change of keeper for 7 days and just backdate.

There is going to be some serious money lost selling used cars this way isn't there , they have zero idea about what will be involved in prep , servicing , cleaning standards , MOT advisories , then as you point out , distance selling , soon as people get into the fact they can send it back its a free car isn't it , enough time for a holiday trip , park it at the airport and send it back .

Apparently they already have stock ready for the launch, wonder how long some has been held as it could of already had 1 or 2 book drops.

As for prep, I guess they will need to set a standard in stone in regards standard as our industry standard (BVRLA) is really loose.  I would also question the standard of refurbishment centres work.

I was even wondering about the delivery cost, I know cars are going to be centrally stored therefore reducing overhead but then they are dispatched to a hub for cleaning and onward delivery to the client in a covered lorry which will be over 3.5t and no doubt dear to purchase and run.

I can only assume there will be added value in commercial ties with warranty, finance, insurers etc to add value to the proposition.

Our local Nissan dealer are selling pick ups and vans like no tomorrow 200 registered this month all brand new.

I have brought a fair few new bits lately as certain dealers are mugging themselves and trading on target bonus.  I think there will be a big push for registrations over the next few days to help the quarter figures.

One main dealer I know claims pre volume bonus they are loosing £300 a car.

  11. There is no logic to our sales, normal stuff is dead but high end 4x4 have been good, 2 BMW X5 sold to Ireland over the weekend plus deposits on 2 RR Sports plus 3 other 4x4 done last week.

Could also sell at least 5 more PHEV RRS’s if we could get them for June’s money but at BCA now going for more than we were retailing them for.

  12. In every walk of life there is somebody trying to have you over.

A couple of years back we got offered a cloned car offered in PX.  One of our sales staff dealt with the guy but you know when a deal just feels to easy?  No real questions about our car, no negotiation on PX value, small balance in cash.  Without sounding big headed I think a fair number of people would have fallen for it as paperwork all looked good, reg and chassis checked etc.

Only giveaway was something on the HPI spec check as the car had a few optional extras listed including a Sunroof however the car offered did not.  A quick call to the local BMW dealer confirmed it should have a sunroof so we discreetly did some more checks but the guy got nervous and made his excuses and left.

We reported it but I don’t think it ever went anywhere.
