Any chance of an update from the OP see if this is fixed and if so how ?

Got original Clio alloys from scrap yard today, vibration cured. offside front hub threads are worn tho . previous owner spent a fortune fixing things directly related to this

are you saying wheel not tight to spigot then?

i really hate crap like that between rim and hub

Yes not by much but enough to make me think the aftermarket alloys fit is the problem. past receipts show ongoing suspension steering trouble. the threads in hub are probably worn

I'm betting the previous owner couldn't solve issues hence the low price.

Aftermarket alloys that are slightly too large for the hub? There are spacing rings available if that is the case.

Good shout. spigot ring is slightly out of tolerance leaving a very small space between hub and wheel. Had every intention of changing alloys so not so bad. Cheers fella's

  4. Alloys in good condition but horrible aftermarket things that are probably to blame . Tie rods didn't look old but had plenty play in them. I'm probably over thinking a simple ish issue.

  5. Hi got a wee Clio tce that's got me scunnered with a vibration issue that's most noticeable at 60mph plus.

In the last few days I've changed pads discs, track rod ends, swapped wheels n had them balanced ..those things needed done irrespective of vibration however was sure thatd solve issue. Engine mounts appear in good shape.

I'm of the thought it's a balancing issue? acceleration or braking isnt a factor. coasting at high speed and vibration felt though floor. no groans/strange noise s from steering . rack has been changed in the last year by unknown garage along with wafer thin control arms. Tyres look and feel ok

Any ideas before i pass problem to a workshop

  6. I bought a Clio other day got 11months mot. The brake discs were fused to the hub and pads at 1mm worst of all was the one bolt on caliper.. same joker replaced the steering rack without any calibration. The young girl who I got car from gave me receipts. no wonder he is cheap at 35 per hour .I feel like phoning this joker as it's beyond a joke passing a car like that.

  7. As I mentioned earlier in this topic, ads like this work on fb . The guys doing a roaring trade through it.  The guys like me who are selling cars from home and don't offer finance are getting murdered by marketplace cowboys. 2k mondeo in great condition but going nowhere :-/ and no wonder when you see them on fb for under 1500. I'll eventually sell the bugger but price is huge factor.

  8. Facebook marketplace is killing me..A dootstepper in a big city selling cars around 3k and under. I can't compete with them.  You've got the private sellers, and the dodgy trader.. No advertising fee is an open door to those fella's. My heart sinks when I see the price those guys are selling similar type cars.. Albeit I'm sure those cars can't be in as roadworthy condition.

Targeted paid fb advertising is different ballgame.. Wish I had premises and stock to do this! Mark berwick motors Ltd ads are probably best I've seen . Sounds great getting a decent little motor for 27quid a week

  9. I wrote in advert that oil leak was addressed, via a new valve cover gasket and pcv valve . I painted rear subframe but left the front as is.. It's obvious by looking at that it's not bad at all.

It's a pure bugger as put so much work in to that car, almost a restoration job and it's now spot on. 83k 57plate mondeo for just over 2k. .Not a single enquiry . Probably get it mot'd again at different garage and word the advert as if it's just come in and company policy to renew mot .

  10. I had mondeo mot'd recently ..the mot tester in his infinite wisdom decided to put oil leak in advisody despite the fact the oil leak was fixed and corrosion on front subframe. .The corrosion on front is next to nothing, the back is worse yet not noted. The owner of garage was apologetic, mot tester didn't know it was one of mine! 2 horrible advisories

  11. I only sell 3 or 4 month. I've bought private and auction. Auctions appear quite expensive but private buying is a right royal pain in the ass. Biggest con merchants out are the private seller. I'm 80 percent auction buyer now.

Every car has faults but at least the ones from auction are the ones the previous owner was honest enough not to try and flog on to some poor soul. The last private sale I went to the car had serious oil leaks, rear discs corroded, back window didn't work, needed a control arm etc etc and this seller.. A lady prison officer had it motd 2weeks earlier with one advisory!! Of coarse they go on auto trader valuation and think there fkd up 07plate is worth every penny

  12. Lol cmon! My scanner told Me what the code means but if it was as straightforward as that cars would be easy to fix.

I didn't have the code before replacing the gasket which leads me to believe the real fault isn't the solenoid valve.

Basically what I'm asking ..could a hollow pcv valve create manifold vacuum and create the p2008 code

  13. Hi, sorry if treating this like a mechanics forum . Ive got a mondeo causing me headaches.

Few weeks back I serviced the car, the 4th spark plug/coil well was full of oil so I changed plugs, coils and valve cover gasket. Took for quick drive and all seemed good. However today the eml has come on with p2008. Car is using a lot of petrol.. My thoughts are pcv and this is what probably buggerred the gasket to begin with??? The car idles fine but power isn't what it should be. I don't want to be replacing solenoid valve unnecessarily then finding pcv is real issue.

    Opinions greatly appreciated

  14. How poignant. I had corsa and Audi tt in garage for mot and oil change.. Audi is high mileage with over 150k, the ea113 engine, one owner and 17stamps in the book, meticulously cared for anyhow was pottering about yesterday and the tone of both engines wasn't to my liking.. Check oil and both over filled ,check receipt ..both over filled with cheap shit. Semi synthetic eBay crap.. Raging! I changed oil on both yesterday so no damage done but that was dear service stamps and now very wary of garage. Usually supply my own oil if I need the stamp in book but I didn't envisage mechanics filling a tt with shit or indeed a 4yr old corsa.

  15. Got a corsa 1.2 ecoflex and stop/start isn't working. Any particular things to check other than obvious?Battery is good, dehumidifier for windows is off. Button stays yellow when activated and engine stays active

  16. pay as you go option is a complete mess. Add 26pics.. Pay for the 20 photo option and you'll find you get the extra photographs. Zero effort from autotraders on the pay as you go option to even check basics

As I said earlier a private ad using the auto trader app is ten times easier and looks 10times better .

  17. Pretty piss poor tho, isn't it? Private sellers ads on the auto trader app look better. The app is useless if your trade pay as you go which means using windows operating system(agony). I've complained a few times about it

  18. I sell three to four cars a month max so as of now autotrader pay as you go suits me. what doesn't suit me is damn layout of the advert..

My ads are a bit different from the norm and it works for me. Why the hell can't AT publish an ad in the way you construct it ie with spacing between paragraphs. The ad ends up looking like a jumbled up mess.

I take it dealers with an account can format the ad to their liking? also the website needs some work to make it android browser friendly ...
