  1. Hi Guys, Would really like your thoughts on this, just been reading the thread on Mot before or after sale and the comment on the £1m question with answer d Pay the mot tester!!. Last summer needed a work horse estate for my brother he only uses cheepies for his work and always relies on me to get him something, possibly something to do with he never pays for them, but hey what are big brothers for .Went down my local auction for a browse as I was there this very respectble Saab 95 estate turns up, local main dealer done the knotts but turns out full history every 6000 miles and as straight as a gun barrell, lovely inside and nice under the bonnet and in the boot and sonded as sweet as nut. Thought that is ideal, these old things are bullett proof ,Checked Mot history all lovely no advisories and 6 months left on current Mot. Bought the old thing , had to give too much but least it turned out to drive lovely a ton of history , spare keys etc a really genuine looked after car. Brother duly took delivery , totally free of charge and uses said car for 5 months sweet as a nut. Now here is the BUT, brother now put car in for Mot and I remember the call total disbelief car has been totally condemed for corrossion and certainly not worth attempting to save, but the point is absolutely no mention of any corrossion on any of the previous Mots and this level of rust does not happen in a few months, shame because it was a good old car, your thoughts on how and why . Thanks
  2. Hi No contact about the problem in over 12 months, personally I feel this works in your favour and you need to use this, you were at no time given the opportunity to rectify the problem so as far as claiming for transport costs you were never aware that she had a transport problem, i feel it is try on she has been talking to a Philidelphia Lawyer that is telling her she can make a claim on you for up to three years etc etc, but in all cases it has to be fair and you need to be made awae that there was a problem in the first place and given the correct opportunity to rectify and go through the correct proceedure ,which this is not. Perhaps a bit late for my first remidy wih Screamers allways taught by the old man once you offer them their money back straight away it iis funny how most times the problem is not as serious. hope this helps a bit.
  3. possible moral here, having taken a break from the trade myself,I have never given up my trade policy had one since I was 21 and that was a long time ago, such a usefull thing to have, just a thought.
  4. Be a bit caerfull uk registered cars used in spain do need to be taxed and Motd as the spanish police do have direct access to DVLA as they have been stoping many uk registered cars lately and fining or impounding the cars, there is a good website called N322 which is run by the spanish police giving good motoring advice, car logistics are a lot different to here in the UK.
  5. Hi Guys With my absence from the trade in the past years, obviously nothing has changed all the same punter excuses etc, if I had a pound for every punter that said on the phone "we are leaving now" A I would be well off and B I am still waiting for them to arrive.
  6. Thats what I was thinking Mark, however I looked and can only find Sniper software that will only work on Ebay and nothing else.
  7. Hi all and a happy new yar to you all, Some of you may recall Ihave posted about getting back into the game having had a lay off for the past few years and have ben running a another busines, I would very much appreciate your thoughts on Syntner on line auction, as I have been trying to buy a few bits on there. It seems virtually impossible to buy anything on there, you always seem to get outbid by a first time bidder that comes in from no where in the last couple of seconds making it impossible for you to bid again even if you wanted to, as most of the prices are ridiculous anyway could anyone shed some light on the subject for me me on how they are doing this thanks.
  8. Hi Guys, Thanks for all your replies all sounds like a very mixed bag to me, but some good solid thoughts an advice, i have no intention of giving up the estate agency started it with a younger partner three years ago and and been selling 60 or so a year the fixed costs dont change much and no repair bills, wiil definately take on board your thoughts, like the Volvo thing as that was always one of the marques that I concertrated on good to know they still have a decent demand, thans all for the advice, no doubt I will be asking a few questions.
  9. Hi Guys, Have been reading your posts now for a couple of weeks and I must say I find them both interesting and on times highly amusing and it seem all the same old issues are there, a bit of back ground i have got the game in my blood a bit of an old vetran but have been out of it for the past 6 yeas or so when I gave up my pitch, and currently running an Estate agency but at heart do miss buying cars. However having done a bit of research it seems things have changed a bit over the past few years, looking at going back and doing a bit of dealing from home, but stock prices generally seem to be silly and at times almost retail how do you guys seem to buy enough stock that still has some legs in it with auction premiums etc being so high, your comments would help Thanks in advance
