Buying a moped without v5

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I was thinking to buy a scooter from a previous owner. She has lost the v5 log book but she has a green new keeper slip referred to the previous keeper change (10/06/2019). If I buy the scooter, what I need in order to tax it and get the MOT? I also checked the MOT status, and the last MOT expired the 12 June 2014, should I worry about this long time without it?

To give it a check I tried to tax it online using the new keeper slip reference number and this is what happened:

  • Taxing a vehicle Unable to use service Unfortunately you cannot use this service as the V5C/2 reference number you have used is invalid. You should have received a V5C vehicle registration certificate (log book) in your name for the vehicle, please use the reference number from this to renew your vehicle tax. If you have not received the V5C vehicle registration certificate (log book) for the vehicle, in your name, please complete form V62 - application for a vehicle registration certificate and send to DVLA Swansea. Click here to get V62

I am worried that if I buy it I will not be able to tax and use it.

Thank you.

ok thanks.

Would it be a problem that the new keeper slip is not about my purchasing but about the previous one when applying for the new v5?
