Taxing a car without log book.. is it possible ?

Recommended Posts

I am in a little pickle.

Customer is collecting his Golf at 6pm this evening. I am gathering all my bits to get all the tax for the due outs.... but have somehow misplaced Golf's log book. Is there a way or are there forms I can use to get the tax before he picks the car up?

Thanks,

James

Allow yourself an hour to ring DVLA and eventually get through to the right person and find out if the car is in 'trade'

If it is then it can be taxed at a Post Office with a V62.

Thanks Chris. The nice automated DVLA lady told me the lines were busy and then told me I can find my answer online and then ended the call. With our local offices now closed, I can't even speak to a real person anymore about a query. #angry

www.taxdisc.directgov.uk

Go to the site above

Chose 'Vehicle Enquiry' on the left hand side of the page

Enter the vehicle reg and make

It will then show if the vehicle can be taxed at a Post Office without the V5

If it can you will need a V62 and it will cost an extra £25

Hope that helps
