Changing service pack into new owners name

Apologies if this has been covered before.

i was wondering how others went about changing manufacturers service packs into the cars new owners name?Some like BMW and MINI are fine and just transfer to the new owner automatically,but others such as Land Rover and Jaguar require the old owner to write to a third party company with the new owners details-something that's not always possible when a car changes hands through an auction or the motor trade etc.

If the BMW/mini has a service pack then there is no need to transfer it, the pack goes with the car not the owner.
