  1. I've been tasked with making our site better, which isn't difficult given the lousy existing one. I've gone for a WordPress theme (so user friendly) but will make sure it works for all devices.

Out of curiosity, why have you chosen WP and which theme are you going for? Does it work with feeds? I'd be interested to see what you produce. I'm a big fan of Wordpress.

  2. I think it's important for the manager to get mixing with the staff. On a busy day we have 3 sales staff, me - the marketing manager and our director. We all take it turns to go pick up the lunch, though normally I go because I get grumpy if I don't get my lunch at 12 haha. We don't really have a dining area where we can all eat together but we do get a bit of banter over lunch and throughout the day.

  3. We recently got a G-Forces website launched and so far I am very happy with how everything has been. I previously asked for feedback on our site and some of you were kind enough to help me out, thank you!

Our site is now more responsive on mobile than it previously was (work in progress) I just wondered how other dealers were finding changing content etc so it's more suited for mobile.

Are you keeping your content shorter? It obviously has to remain informative but my fear is that when people are browsing on their phones they want quick information and not to be searching all over the website. It has to be natural too..

What are your thoughts on designing for mobile? and what obstacles have you come across?

  4. Hi Clare

modern, clean looking site ( viewing via explorer). should be easy to navigate for customers, I have three plain grey squares under the save and compare banner though... is that supposed to be there?

Really like the online book a service idea. more dealers should be doing this - might be worth changing this to "book a service or MOT" as you can book MOT's too?

    Andy

Yes. The idea is that you can save upto 3 cars and compare them.

    Thanks for your feedback!

  5. My quick feedback

doesn't work on mobile, well its not responsive or has a mobile website. Hopefully someone has forgotten to turn on the mobile redirect

I'd suggest the phone number on the car details page is far too hidden and small. On my experience this should be big and bold similar to "make an enquiry". Not sure why your phone number is hidden away at the top right, seems a little strange.

From an SEO point of view it would have helped having a news section. Actually i found this in the end, but is strangely hidden under a sub menu in contact us.

You have no page titles on your seo landing pages such as http://www.autoecosse.com/subaru and the H1 is  Welcome to Autoecosse Subaru. You might be better off having a better search term such as "used subarus for sale in TOWN".

Thanks for the indepth feedback, I am going to speak to G Forces regarding the website being responsive, I had thought this would have come as standard now, but will double check.

Really nice site.....maybe some video on there to engage with your customers a bit more?

This is something I have planned very soon, thanks for the feedback!

  6. Hello all,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this or not, but I was looking to get some feedback on our new website?

We went live on Friday but we are launching a promotion this afternoon to officially announce the new site.

    www.autoecosse.com

    Any constructive feedback is appreciated.

    Thank you

  7. Tell you what guys...

You can spend all your time tweeting, liking, instagramming or Klouting each other and doing whatever you do on't tinterweb.

Meanwhile, I'll spend that time talking (ie actual speech... with words and everything) to the vast majority of your customers that don't give a toss about any of it, and sell a few cars to them.

I'm sure there's room for all of us.

That's a fairly negative view. Have you tried using social media as part of a marketing strategy? Social Media isn't about sales, it's about interacting with the public (and potential new customers)

  8. Like most I use both and agree with other comments different audience , different people use them both differently. Then we have Google + and pinterest ..so difficult to try and keep up with them. I try to spend some time on the ones I think benefit most ..if you're not careful you spend all your time posting things and not actually selling cars :)

I have considered creating a pinterest and google+ for our business, how do you feel these work? How often do you interact on these and how do you monitor response?

  9. Hi Ben

This is something we are looking at right now. I think this would be a really interesting piece of analysis. We are currently trying to work out how best to calculate this as Facebook doesn;t have a "klout" rating. Its also alleged that "likes" can be bought, so we need to find a way to make this fair and representative.

    What are your thoughts ?

Bought as in bought from Facebook? I'm fairly certain I've seen people advertise on fiver.com that they can increase the activity on pages. But these are more along the lines of programs/bots. I think it's pretty fair to say that any social media can be hacked this way, unfortunately.

  10. Hi Autoecosse. Yep, we used the Klout rating to help us create our top 100 most influential dealers on twitter. Its calculated using followers, tweets, retweets etc and its a good independent way to monitor this. We intend to make this a regular update and hope that dealers will start to follow this and aim to try and improve their standings in the league and subsequently improve their interaction with the industry.

I noticed that Klout takes influence from Instagram and Google + too, do you think it is important to have a presence across all social media?

  11. After the Top 100 most influential twitter car dealers was published, I asked myself what actually is more influential? Facebook or Twitter? I post videos, pictures, questions and even just comments or observations. Everything I post to Facebook gets automatically posted to Twitter. I think I have a good following on Facebook, most of my interactions are done with customers or potential customers, whereas most of my followers and interactions on Twitter are done with fellow dealers or others in the motor trade. I like both forms of social media, but for very different reasons. The things I post, definitely go further with Facebook, and I know I've sold more cars as a result of Facebook than I have via twitter. I also know that more of my customers are more active on Facebook than they are on Twitter. What does everyone else prefer Facebook or Twitter? and why? Is there a way of monitoring how influential we are on Facebook? And, is there a way of monitoring which one is most influential for car dealers? Would love to know peoples thoughts.

There is a site called Klout, this measures how influential you are on the internet. I've not looked into this yet, but a friend in another industry is using it and can't speak of it enough!

  12. I'm currently trying to develop a strategy for social media. I've said previously in another thread that I was currently trying to build my out audience for Twitter, the same applies for Facebook.

We currently have roughly 140 'likes' on Facebook, something which we definitely need to improve! I've noticed other dealerships who are very successful on Facebook, so I'm trying to follow their examples.

  13. We use both Twitter and Facebook and although Twitter has brought us sales they tend to be from same industry or other business type people with the few exceptions! Facebook on the other hand is the place where (if used correctly) you can benefit from almost direct sales from FB!

You need to have some form of strategy but most of all you need to persist, because persistence pays off! Trust me I know

    Jim

    Thanks for your input Jim!

  14. I am relatively new to the motor industry but have been an avid twitter user for a few years now. I'd love to implement twitter into my daily tasks, but my biggest problem is expanding our audience. I've read so many great stories about successfu sales etc on Twitter and I'd like to work towards this for my dealership.
