On 7/10/2016 at 2:23 PM, audispecialistlondon said:We use Dragon2000 as our DMS system but also use sage totally separately. Dragon is supposed to integrate with Sage but we stopped using this function a couple of years ago as it just didn't work.
This means we enter lots of invoices onto both dragon & then sage but this is still less work that realising after months that the feed between the 2 systems hasn't worked properly and your figures are completely wrong.
Dragon is great other than it doesn't have functionality to add on non vehicle specific purchase invoices for example an Auto-trader invoice or an electricity bill. If it did we would have no need for Sage...
Which is exactly why I stopped using Dragon2000 (apart from the price hike) as I had to keep a separate cash book as well.
MTA incorporates a cash book as well as invoicing/stock book system - so everything goes on to MTA and it will produce VAT Return reports, Profit/Loss etc.
It is not the most glamorous UI in the world, but for the cost is excellent value!

Received this 'enquiry' on a car this week that I have advertised for £11,495:
' Hi there would you consider an offer of £8000 cash live local genuine buyer thanks '
Do I win?

there they're their - Jolly Green Giant, I share your pain.......

Thank you for all your help everybody.
We went to see the Transit on Sunday and it actually looked quite good. There was a fair amount of history in the form of a print-out from the previous owner.
Unfortunately we couldn't get together on the P/X so the deal didn't happen, otherwise we would have bought it.
With regard to Jamie's comments on Transporters, this is the other van that he is considering as a lot of farriers seem to use them and there appear to be more around with a tailgate.
-
But apart from that........
haha! that's what i thought!!
-
I have HPId it and HPI state that it is a 5 speed manual - does that mean it doesn't have a DMF?
Euro Car Parts list a DMF (and a solid conversion) using the reg number on their website
-
Just make sure the flashing beacons work...
Haha! They're coming straight off and it will be wrapped.
He's a farrier, so likes it as it has a tailgate and drawers, workbench etc in the back!

Thanks guys, you have been enormously helpful as always.
the link is to a private account not a business account ,that would be a big no for me because it suggests no premises to return the vehicle to for any faults after sale ,have you spoken to any of the fellas on the phone? i
starter motors clog up with dmf failing fillings so maybe and especially 100,000 is the time for another clutch and flywheel
He has four vans and a car also listed, that to me makes him a dealer!
Oh, and it's plus VAT so must be VAT registered?
-
Thanks for the advice, Phil - sounds like he should buy something else!!
Seriously, though it's a dealer selling it says he has just serviced but it has done 100k. The only thing that concerned me on his eBay description is that he says he has replaced starter motor - could this be a mis-diagnosed Dual Mass Flywheel problem? eBay item #272013419626 if you get a chance to sneek a peak??!!
Thanks again

Hi,
After some advice; my daughter's boyfriend is interested in a Transit Van that he has seen advertised and asked me to have a look at it with him over the weekend.
Only problem is, I know nothing about vans! I was wondering whether any of my learned colleagues here could give me any advice re what to look for/common problems etc? It's a FORD TRANSIT 2.2 TDCI 330S TREND SWB.
Do they suffer with injectors, DMFs etc.? Any advice/thoughts gratefully received.
Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, on the new site it only shows mileages back to 2011 which seems like a real backward step to me.
Presumably thay have either lost or can't integrate the earlier information since the changeover to the new MOT system?

In my account on the third day, i.e. take payment on a Monday and the funds are in my account on Wednesday.
I use Barcays Merchant Services
-
Yes, but how long is temporary?
-
So, one of the few things that was vaguely useful about the Government's computerisation of the MOT system is now unavailable!
https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history-vehicle
I don't know about anybody else, but I used this facility ALL the time...
Does anybody have any knowledge of when this 'new service' might be available?
-
Think you may have to contact them to get properly authorised. I'll talk to my contact there and find out for you.
OK - they have sent me an e-mail to say I'm registered but it's still the same! Thanks!!
-
Not sure if I should blab about this (as I usually prefer to keep my opinions to myself...), but I've been a user of autorola's Autofind Stock Locator for many years. Not only does it have a large no of main dealer cars for sale, there is also a facility to add cars to advertise. Doing this by reg no lookup gives both cap and glass valuations. Tbh, I don't think I pay anything for it, so seems like a proper bargain to me!
If there is a cost, I'm sorry but don't grass on me.
So how do you do it? I have just registered, but when I click on 'Register your car for free' it just says 'Unfortunately you are not authorised to view these vehicles.'

Hi,
I used to use Dragon2000 but had to find an alternative when they put their prices up last year.
If you don't have workshops and you want a system for sales only, I now use 'Motor Trade Assistant'
http://www.motortradersassistant.co.uk/
The User Interface is not quite as modern and 'bells and whistles' as Dragon2000, BUT it does provide a Cashbook as well as producing P&L reports, VAT returns etc., which Dragon2000 didn't do without exporting to Sage (which I don't use). It's also good value and 'pay monthly'.
Might be worth a look

Hilarious!
Hours of fun to be had with this...

Prior to being in the Motor Trade, I was an Estate Agent (never really known whether I moved up, down or across the social scale!). When the property market crashed in 1989 our local Nissan dealer was advertising for ex-Estate Agents to be car salesmen. The rest, as they say, is history!
