You can't win with some people. Have you tried bumping the price up?

I have a viewing tomorrow morning with someone who seems to be sensible and asks the right questions. Wait and see if he takes it if not i might add a few hundred quid on see if i get any nibbles

  2. I think we will be taking the next step in the coming months and getting a unit.

We have a few options both the same size and both presentable inside but one is in a poor area compared to a much better area in the other unit.

The one in the poor area is nearly half the price of the one in the nice area. Both are around 3000 sqft

Is it worth the extra overhead for a nice location or shouldn't it matter as long as the cars speak for themselves.

Just curios of other peoples thoughts.

Haha, how generous of him. What do these people really expect? Someone to say "Oh you're right, go on then!"?

Haha its brilliant i love it. Meanwhile had a customer today tell me the car i was selling was priced to cheap so there must be something wrong with it. When i asked if they would be more interested if i doubled the price they didn't seem to see the funny side. Meanwhile its still sat outside (Yes it is cheap but only because i got it cheap in  PX deal. Cant win with some people)

 Ah good old Parkers. At least it's that. I had a woman  screenshot me the WBAC price for one of ours, telling me we're too expensive. I hope your guy wakes up and realises with his criteria, it'll be a while before he finds another car.

I love the WBAC argument. Had a gentlemen tell me a car i had for sale was only worth £1000 on WBAC but he would give me £1800 ( Like he was doing me a favour) Car was advertised for £2895 at the time :)

So bare in mind having no NCB and only 6 months driving experience and being 18 the quote wasn’t too bad. £4700 for 3 drivers, combined policy. I’m pretty sure who we’re with said to me that once I’m 22 theres no restrictions on SDP which is surprising tbh

Do you mind me asking which insurance company you was with to get such a quote i agree this is fairly reasonable and i have a young driver i could do with adding to the policy. ( Can PM me if its easier for you)

In answer to your question i dont think the plod will be to bothered your insured to drive the vehicle. its the insurance company you would need to speak with. Maybe have your dad draw up a contract that details you as a voluntary worker ?

Ask the wife :D permission , she may grant a reprieve in the weather , they do have ultimate control over the final sale conditions and that might extend to the weather .

    Good luck with the sale

    Fingers Crossed and thanks

Thats because they see it Wed online , think about it Thurs and wonder how to tell the wife , tell their mate on Friday in the pub working out what to say to wife , Forget on Sat because they had to much pop Friday night or had to take the kids to where ever because the wife said so . Sunday is the time to ask the wife or girlfriend , Then have to wait for permission to call you , That comes Monday , So they call Tuesday . See its SIMPLE

Makes perfect sense now you put it like that. As long as they sell i don't mind what day of the week it is :):):). Speaking of Tuesdays i have a car to go and clean for a viewing tonight and if the rain would bugger off that would be brilliant as well.

  8. Im doing good this month 3 cars for us which is above normal as a small part time trader. However i can only sell cars on Tuesdays apparently phone dosent ring any other day of the week apart from Mondays and Tuesdays and everyone wants to view Tuesday night :blink:

Do not "sell" warranties unless your fca approved, you give warranties as a consequence of a sale, the cost will be hidden in the purchase price, if you "sell" warranties, as in warranting a car that you haven't sold, is similar to selling insurance [which is what it is] and you need to be approved.

"standard with every purchase" ? no! you should assess the car and the customer,

car might be a bit evil or old or over mileage,

customer might be a bit evil or old or over enthusiastic !:D

Very interesting and thanks for coming back to me with that information. I didn't know about the FCA side of things so ill tread carefully with how i promote it and where i offer it. I would be happy providing a warranty on all of our cars but not to all of our customers ;)

Welcome JA. The lawgistics booklets are great value for money, they legitimize your business and are very flexible in what you want to cover.

I have been on the phone to them yesterday evening and they are sending me out a booklet for me to look over.

    Thanks for everyone's advise.

As per the other thread. People do NOT want to hear “oh you’re covered by the CRA” because they don’t trust you and they’re not about to start thumbing through the CRA in your office. They want a shiny brochure, an arm round the shoulder, a warm fuzzy feeling that they have bought a nice car and not a pup. Some people don’t care and don’t even ask for a warranty. If you’re losing sales because of it, you need to provide them with that warm fuzzy feeling. Or, not care if you lose the occasional sale.

Couldn't agree more and if i was a consumer i wouldn't want to hear about the or read through the CRA either. The customer i was trying to explain it to was concerned about something going wrong and having no cover when i pointed out the CRA.

I like to try and give the customer "that fuzzy feeling" i am waiting on a call back from lawgistics and i will take it from there.

    Thanks for your comments

Tried it.  Market place and FB Group postings.  Not having much success!

I find Facebook so hit and miss. I think it is all about getting a few people to click on your listing as soon as it goes up. If they do it stays at the top of the list for a while and have loads of the " is this still available messages"

Have had a bit of success but mainly with the cheaper cars. Had over 100 messages about a spares or repair cooper s that wasnt that cheap but it sold.

I have to be honest I was a bit confused at first too but I called Lawgistics and spoke with Joel.  He was extremely helpful and sent me over samples of the booklets to read through.  Why not get in touch with him directly and ask him your questions.  http://www.lawgistics.co.uk/authors/joel-combes#sthash.keHyEQjI.dpbs

You are on the hook from a CRA perspective anyway so the Lawgistics warranty adds a proper framework to that so your customer knows exactly what they should do and what they should expect.  Adds a touch of professionalism.

Thanks i will get in touch with him and see if he can help.

Completely understand with the CRA but i had a customer the other week who i think felt i was lying to him about the CRA and lost a sale as i couldn't provide a warranty. Since sold the car anyway but want to try and provide as much a i can to a customer to get the best reputation possible

    Maybe do a search?

I have done a search and seen a few people have a few different opinions Lawgistics, A1 etc.

I was slightly confused about the booklet side of things to give to the customer do the relevant providers have something we can print of and provide ?

  15. I have only recently created this account but i have been trading for around 10 months now as well as having a full time job. We have a steady turn over of cars and have been doing okay so far working from home fortunately we have a fair amount of storage at our house.

The next step i think for me is to be able to offer a warranty to seem more professional and also put the customers mind at ease a little

What or who do you all use for some sort of warranty booklet to give to the clients . I have been reading online and understand you can use a company like lawgistics but would prefer to have a self administered warranty

Would you suggest offering it as an additional cost or standard with every purchase ?

Our main cars are the early R50/52/53 minis with low mileage. Few fiestas and BMW here and there as well. We give all the vehicles a once over and always fix anything broken so i don't think we would receive many warranty claims but i don't want to get burnt by one bad claim either

Hoping someone will be able to help and apply some insight.

I suggest you start a polite new post introducing yourself first to this forum first before you expect us to help you. We are a community, not an information service.

Apologies that really wasn't my intention.

I have been reading the forum in the background for a while and thought i would create an account.

Apologies if i offended anyone. I have created a new thread with my queery.
