Sent a text out of courtesy to let Mr Prospect know Mr Prospect Rings again last night and today. “Yes Mr Prospect that BMW at £6995 you were trying all day to get a discount on over the phone has been sold to Mr Customer last night” “Sold?! But what did it sell for?!” I did of course sell for £6995, but I couldn’t help telling him I did a deal at £5400 Why do do they ask what it sold for?! Like they have some sort of right to know?!

A first for me...! Anyone else had that issue before? Was told by the sales manager as if I was stupid; “you wouldn’t get to test drive the Bca ones” to which I replied that’s why I buy from DA so we can check they are what they are described as... Only an old Ford Focus from the Hampshire area but didn’t expect that and very suspicious of a car if they won’t let me drive it. Margins are tight - need to test drive surely?! not mentioned I can’t test drive on their advert either I walked away.... and know which garage to avoid now. I think I've bought over 150 cars through DA - never had that problem before!

Taken in PX today... I seem to be attracting the unique at he moment. 140k Miles, short MOT but seems to be in good working order... still packs a punch, in Silver and looking very respectable. Last owner since 2008. With a new ticket, what would you put the old girl up for?! I paid only £250 for her... just wondered if it’s my lucky day and I can expect a following?!

Hold your horses lads - had a “something has come up and will be back in touch shortly” text. I’ll let you all know if I take this beast in, but I’m not holding my breath...

Looks like I’m taking one in PX tomorrow... 58 plate, done 85k. subject to viewing and details - would anyone be interested in it?! It’s pretty much the complete opposite of what I like to stock

Anyone else bought one and worked out well for them? noticed I spent £11k with movex last year...! £6k buys you a working truck and picking up half of those cars makes it a strong business case... i buy a lot off DA and BCA blackbushe (which is a pain to get to) of course my own time to get on with selling is important but I often wonder if fetching cars with one won’t take up that much time. interested to hear peoples thoughts and experiences....

Low mileage cars attract odd people...

It’s a ghia with full leather! Yours for £1800 if you want it...! -
Anyone else notice that?! Got a 55 plate fiesta, done 42k I took in PX. Great little car. £1800 My god... people asking 200 questions, people looking at 4 others, “getting insurance quotes”, “change in circumstances”, can no longer come and see it. ZERO ACTUAL VIEWINGS.. It’s a f**king tidy, fully working, long mot and full history fiesta mate, come see and buy it. It’s quite straight forward!!!

No, HPI trade...

I seem to get a NMR flag about 1 in 5 cars I search for at the moment. MOT mileage stacks up but presumably it’s stating that as when the V5c was changed owners the mileage was stated higher?

Selling through BCA PX Disposal
GentlemanJames replied to GentlemanJames's topic in General Dealer Chat
Thanks for the replies all. Think you’ve made my mind up - back to Ebay but even more brutal on descriptions! Agree some people will pay silly money for tat - I’ll never forget a Zafira I practicaly told the guy not to drive it home and he was thrilled with it. Just been put off recently. I’ve dabbled between no Reserve auctions and BIN with offers. Any preferences? -
Selling through BCA PX Disposal
GentlemanJames replied to GentlemanJames's topic in General Dealer Chat
Cap below and half?! Really?! -
Afternoon all, By way of brief intro; Having spent 5 years in main dealers, 3 years ago I went solo and founding my company. Specialising in sports and prestige £5-12k mark. Margins are tight, but turnover is good and I keep the fixed costs to a minimum. I tend to take in about 5 PX’s a month – some as we all know providing great opportunities to retail again. Previously the higher mileage, scruffy, EML on, rattles on the suspension etc has been put on ebay. Honestly described in generally sold without any issues. While I understand my obligations under the CRA 2015, the ebay stuff seemed to attract the right sort of buyer who was well aware on what to expect when buying a 15 year old 150k mile merc e class for example. Recently however, I seem to be getting more and more comebacks, quoting the CRA 2015 and what court they will take me to etc. While I will always resolve such matters amicably I am becoming increasingly fed up with disposing of the cheapies and incurring great costs in time and money to resolve afterwards. Which leads me on to thinking shall I just sell them to my local BCA blackbushe in the mixed vendor section? Are there ANY comebacks AT ALL when selling through BCA? Engine blows up on the way home for example or gearbox fails the next week? Where do I stand? I’m looking at the entry forms I picked up this morning and I see it asks for a mechanical condition section. I’m no mechanic, does that still make me qualified to complete? Do most people leave it blank? Does it make any difference? BCA have said any know faults need to be disclosed, and rightly so, but does filling out the mechanical condition section bring any legally binding comeback? I have a high milage XC90 with quite a few warning lights on at the moment I was thinking as a good starter to sell though BCA – the engine seems to be running fine at the moment but with EML on am I allowed to put “good” on the engine condition report?! Just interested to hear anyone’s thoughts and experiences on selling the cheapies through BCA and any problems they have incurred. Thanks all, James
