    ^^^^^^^^ THIS ^^^^^^^^

    Also,

You need to emphasise it has a PEPPER pack, thats what people search for.

In reality, you've got a bobby basic Mini that will appeal to first time buyers, but young girls like the Ice blue colour or Red for some reason. I have also found that people are avoiding diesel Minis too.

    I would -

Stick some black stripes on the bonnet, Wrap the roof black ( £200 )

Paint the god awful pepper pots black ( £140 )  - OR - but some nice 17"  Black Mini Alloys ( £350 ish )  and it will shift...

Thanks Mat. I don’t usually buy diesels and won’t again. I was thinking about changing a few bits as it usually helps stickers I’ve had before

    Blocked strainer possibly.

Also you say no codes but what have you scanned it with? There is a code that relates to the NOX Sensor that inexplicably puts the oil pressure light on. You can try a forced regen by driving the car over 60mph for 30 mins (I think) which can sometimes help.

Its a common problem on these engines. They’re crap, frankly but they sell well!

Drop the sump and look in the strainer would be the first thing to do i’d say. Does it put the light on under certain driving conditions? Under a load, high speeds, idling?

Forced regen on a petrol engine? I don’t think so.... all bmw N engines are terrible and asking for trouble

    Cons first:

    1) You may spend an hour with a punter showing them a car and then they get rejected for finance.

    2) 20 more minutes added to the average deal compared to cash buying.

    3) Several hours added to SOME deals where you have to propose your customer to several finance companies if they have an iffy credit score or missing documents.

    4) Comeback. You can get comebacks from a finance company which is sometimes more difficult to deal with if you are not used to it. Legally though it's easier with a finance company than a private retail buyer.

    5) Zuto. Where do I even start.

    Now pros:

    1) Money. Finance companies provide hefty commissions for our 10-20 minutes of work. So hefty in some cases that some dealers rely mainly on that income and have almost NO margin in the metal.

    2) Ease of transactions. You are giving an expensive car to someone that can't save the money to buy it. They are NOT fussy at all, no more huffing and puffing for minor scratch marks etc. Selling a 20K car on finance is much easier than selling a £999 old diesel estate to a cash buyer.

    3) Haggling. "What is your best price for cash?" I am sorry sir, we actually prefer buyers on finance because of the commissions. We can sell to you but only at the screen price. I hope you understand.

    4) Stocking facility. A finance company that is happy with your volume will give you a very low interest stocking facility. This is sometimes cheaper than using your own money for stock. You can then grow much quicker. You need to know exactly what you are doing though.

    5) Comeback. Because acceptance is so important to some finance buyers they don't suffer so much from buyers remorse and are unlikely to come back for full refund.

You won’t get a better than this ^^

i always ask if they’ve had finance before and make them apply before viewing the car to save wasted time

He quoted Parker’s guide when he called to deliver the news So I think you may be right, keep your eyes peeled, he may be coming to a forecourt near you soon!

Sounds like the customer I had Saturday using Parker’s pricing. Sorry, Parker’s who??

Yes you can but you specifically asked for online invoicing system with some automation.

On Excel you can have all your company details but the details for each vehicle will need to be entered manually.

Sorry Nick, I meant can I use wave for invoice only. They only have a few templates which I don’t like. Think I’ll be better off paying someone to do it for me

Wave accounting is free, quite similar to quickbooks. You can upload a logo

I use excel for my accounts. Can I use it just to create invoices?

Doesn’t your website have some sort of back end dealer management system?

No I just put my cars on there and that’s it

  7. I’m currently using an A4 pad for invoices which I had made when I first started. I want an online invoice system that’s all set out with logo ect so all I have to do is fill it out and use eclick. Don’t want to use word and wouldn’t know how to do it my self. Can anyone recommend something?

  8. My best find was a gold ring encrusted with diamonds and blue sapphire, £400 to the local pawn shop, the car was returned to bca as the service history turned out to be fake. Viagra in a bmw convertible (what does that say about bmw drivers!) a selection of lock knifes in a golf. And the usual sweats and kids toys under the back seat

B2B actually have very similar rights but allow for written concensual contracts that can exclude some of them. As we know this is not the case with CRA2105, nothing can be excluded at all, even if 'agreed' in writing, it would be an unfair contract.

So fit for purpose, as described etc still applies.

I think I’ll speak to lawgistics as the contract does say the car must still comply with CRA

At the end of the day regardless of the fact that mini engines are chocolate and the private billy is a skint member he bought a car off a “professional”  (the judge would say because he does not understand cars.... we know it’s cus he can’t get Chucky to buy cheap off back street bob) if a fault occurred in 30 days only an unprofessional dealer would wriggle.... I would have got It back and inspected as soon as a complaint was made then if report said it was faulty it would have been fixed, we are meant to be the professionals here not ones who hide from our obligations, if I paid an electrician to do a job and it wasn’t right I would expect him to make it right cus I don’t understand electrics I wouldn’t be wanting to contribute when I had paid top dollar a month before... We all like a good profit but sometimes we get shit and we need to move on,,,, unless of course billy is taking the piss.

I completely agree and I have dealt with complaints before and had no issues. This customer is not a normal. I’ll give you a run down, 1) calls following week saying when they start the car some water dribbles from exhaust and then stops. 2) call on week 2, there’s some black smoke when you “red line it” from idle (yes that’s soot, it’s direct injection) 3) week 2 still, “oh just to let you know the turbo pipe was loose so I tightened it and now it’s split, can you send us a new one?” 4) still week 2, “cars not running right, been diagnosed as cracked turbo housing, it’s £500 can you pay for it” I call the “garage” and no faults were diagnosed. The list goes on and it’s madness! Was with a different customer on test drive and missed a call from the customer in question. Because I couldn’t answer they continued to call me another 10 times f ing this and that. Never known anything like it

My experience with Advantage when they had a screamer/knocker was terrible.

They were really unprofessional,  demanding we buy the car the customer backed to them . No faults with the car , engineers reports riddled with inconsistencies. Advantage threatened to sell car at auction and pursue me for loss , then banged on about my obligations under CRA15 . Pointed out that this was a business to business sale , they owned it and if they bottled it and rolled over (unlike Zuto , who , to be fair told him to do one after he got sweary with them on the phone) they have to take responsibility for it. In the end , to play the helpful dealer I bid them a grand behind book , bought it and sold it again two weeks later .

Thanks for sharing that. I haven’t spoken to them directly and jigsaw have been dealing with it who I’ve been really pleased with. The complaints manager know exactly what’s she’s on about and is not taking any shit. As soon as the customer gave them shit they couldn’t be bothered and started the rejection cry. I’m still damanding the car back for proper diagnostics

Curious to know how this deal came about.

Did the customer come through the broker (Zuto?) to you?

Or did he come direct with his own finance?

    That's hilarious!

I take it they have never read a finance document or the invoice which is addressed to them and deliver to the customer.

I use close and the declines go straight to a broker. The customer did no research on the car they were buying and didn’t even put down a deposit. Never again

I agree.  Cars not to buy...

Anyway, apologies if I'm missing this point-but are you suggesting to the customer that you'll potentially have it in for inspection and repair, or are you just looking to say it's wear and tear and you're not interested/take it up with the warranty company? Or are you saying 'jog on, there's nothing wrong with it'?

In my example, the finance company categorically told me the car 'was not their property' and they were only really interested if the customer defaulted. They also were very quick to side with their customer initially, until I spelled it all out to them and provided the documentation etc. proving that i) The point of sale paperwork and checks were comprehensive and ii) I suggested we get it in for an independent check.

I’m only dealing with the broker since the customer made the complaint. I’ve requested the car back for inspection only. I presume the “audible noise” reported by scotia is a result of oil starvation which is why I want it back asap. If I’m right then I’ll be laughing down the phone. If I’m wrong and it’s wear and tear or sudden failure I’ll take it on the chin
