  1. I haven't read the comments above but we stopped opening Sundays a few years back and have never considered re opening, sales have improved, communication is better and i think that's the one item that is key to this, also we could only justify one person being in due to our size so meant no test drives, a day off in return, holidays become awkward. I guess it depends on dealer size but for us it worked being closed sundays

  2. I've experimented, problem is we have 50-60 used cars at one time so man power causes an issue, do you feel people want a video, my thoughts are as long as you've plenty good quality images what is the difference? I think if you talk about the car however this is good, the videos with back ground music or silent are a waste of time. Interested to see what others are finding is working

  3. I know we've always tried to trade professionally and honestly, we were putting nearly as much effort into advertising trade as retail if not more, due to have to describe and photo all marks, scuffs etc where as retail, your happy on the condition. First 6 months of the year the profit per unit makes you wonder if its worth it, against the time in prospecting retail customers. I am not saying you should rush trade deals but it's difficult to get the balance right, I guess it's ensuring you treat others how you want to be treated, be proud of the name on the invoice

  4. I think there must be more to the story - if you sold a car engine failed etc and was possibly going to court you would seek to get invoices from the dealers that have stamped the book to check correct oil etc has been supplied. If I couldn't prove the service history I wouldn't let it get to court

  5. We recently replaced all ours and for units with led's on a motion sensor also, so not only do they switch off after a while off no one in that area they only come on during periods of darkness - obviously you still have a switch for morning and afternoon. Not sure what the saving was going to be as it was done by the old man prior to retirement, but he wouldn't spend money for no return. However surely you can ask a local sparky to add some device to measure kwh being used over 1 minute then get a test led unit and do the same and should be able to calculate from there I'd guess? We are looking at showroom heating options, but due to the height it is causing problems, you can get nice ones that look like false ceiling tiles which is what I want.

  6. Think we need to be careful that we don't tar everyone with the same brush - I have the same respect for independents as I do for other main dealers, as I do for anyone running a business, it's tough enough without people trying to trip one another up - as I said earlier, there's enough business to go round out there

  7. Yes - back to basics more than ever, check the part x with a good eye, we got stung last time with a diesel that had been flood damaged and was dried out, but once got the vehicle running noticed it had a misfire due to engine damage, slap on wrist and reality check to ensure you follow process
