  1. Ive done this lots and lots of times. If your confident in what your selling and have given an honest description of bodywork and service record then why is it a problem? I email all paperwork invoices etc to sign and get them to send it back signed. It all comes down to how confident you are in the car your supplying

    Hi guys,

some advice would be really appreciated.

Long story short we sold a car to a customer 2 months ago with a lack of service history. The car was serviced locally before it was sold by our garage and in the advert we said the car had 'service history' being the one service that has just been carried out. Not full service history or anything to that effect. We never said to the customer in person it had so either.

The customer viewed the car at our premises and never asked to view the paperwork or any history we did or didn't have.

They are now claiming we misrepresented the vehicle in our advert as one service does not constitute service history. In my mind service history can refer to 1 or 50 stamps. 1 service indicates it has had a service done and therefore has service history.

I also feel if it was so important to them they should have checked it before committing to purchasing the car.

Anyone come up against something like this before?

    Thanks

I do this all the time I dont see any wrong doing what so ever. I would get the tracking done and get them on there way.

We have just doubled our Auto Trader package, will let you know what effect it has, if any.

Facebook is a goldmine though, out of the last 10 cars we sold, 5 were sold through Facebook.

Your set up looks superb, I have been following you for a while now over the last 6 months and Ive got to say it looks great. One question how did you get so gather such a high following on Facebook/Instagram? Giveaways etc?

  4. Hi all,

We're currently trying to improve our photograph skills, we currently use a Canon G7X and the photos look good but now we want to make them even better. Do I purchase a DSLR? if so which one. Also does anyone do any work in photoshop or similar programmes making the photos a little sharper?

    Thanks

  5. Hi all,

We currently run our own warranty by just indicating on the invoice what is covered which probably isn't the best thing to do. I have heard lots of praise about the Lawgistics warranty booklets which makes everything look abit more professional and will be great for up sale. Now the people who use it - how many months/mileage do you give? what claim limit do you set? and what do you sale it for? Just curious to know what other people charge for there 'own' warranty packages whether its Lawgistics or someone different. Thanks

Always try to get cars back to you. In you acting like a decent dealer and trying to help the customer Halfords have stepped in and condemned the car.

the Halfords report is probably a load of BS so get the car back and see if there actually are any faults or if it's just a case of it's a second hand Land Rover with second hand parts that's all worn to a degree.

If you have missed some things that should have been done prior to sale apologise and offer to put right. If customer reluctant to accept just refund and sell it to someone else.

Thats fair enough but what about extra owner on V5, over 500 miles put on the car?

  7. Sold a 13 year old Freelander about 3 days ago, customer rings a day later my passenger window has just packed up I said no problem book it in your local garage ill pay for it to be fixed. He then proceeds to put it into Halfords for a safety check and they come back with a few different things handbrake wont hold enough, prop shaft bushes are perished. He now wants a full refund under consumer rights. I do a Lawgistics PDI sheet for every vehicle that passes through my garage. The car has recently gone through an MOT with no advisories? Where do i stand? what do i do?

  8. Customer bought a car around 6 weeks ago and I have just put a turbo on it as it failed. He now tells me there is a noise coming from clutch/flywheel which he has had investigated and it does it when he pulls away. Do I have to replace clutch and flywheel or because it hasn't 'failed' do I tell him to get on his bike? Like I said im not unreasonable ive already replaced his turbo free of charge. The car is an A3.

    Let me know your thoughts?

I self warrant using Lawgistics books. I'm considering moving up to the administered package as they then do most of the legwork in terms of claims, you just pay.

Excellent, friendly and honest people to deal with I have nothing but praise for them. You get a claim, you can call them for legal advice to see if you're liable etc....

£6 a go for nice glossy warranty book - I give 3 months on all stock other than trade and upsell a 12 Month for £350. Every time I sell a warranty I put the £300 odd into a warranty account and then use that for any claims. I have had 1 gearbox ( £500 ) and 1 clutch ( £500 ) in the 10 months i've been doing this. so my view is i've saved £££ over paying £XX per warranty. Also whatever's left in the warranty pot at the end of the 12 months cover is profit. I like to think I buy relatively well, and that I prep my cars well enough so that they are decent quality and would last. However as we all know, stuff goes wrong. I find being the point of contact makes it easier, and I can  authorise something in a flash. Also I find if you sort silly stuff out that most companies would decline, it helps build a better relationship and customer experience. I changed a fog lamp the other day for a lady, cost me £30 overall, she thinks i'm amazing and leaves me a 5 star review on autotrader, I'd have paid £30 for that alone!

I also couldn't do it to myself to have pictures of Quentin Wilson allover the place as per warrantywise POS - My garage also tells me they are terrible at claims handling.

Hi Mat I have private messaged you regarding what you do, if you could get back to me that would be great many thanks

  10. Hi, my first post on this forum. I have just started my own business selling cars after working in the industry for a long time and have been supplying my own warranties. All of my cars are serviced and MOT'd prior to sell and are inspected to a high standard. The majority of my cars sold are from £3000 to £6000, although I do sell a few a bit higher or lower priced than that. I have been trying to research on which warranty provider to go with and I thought why not actually ask dealers themselves for honest feedback on who to use. I am a straight up guy who genuinely does want to help customers if they get a problem so I don't want a company that is going to mess customers around.

Warranty Assist have been in contact with me also I have read some other topics on here regarding WMS.

    Thanks
