I knew there would be someone who did well with them. There is good profit in unfashionable or problem stuff if you are prepared to take your medicine on the bad ones.It was the same I think with the early Lagunas,I know a retailer who bought loads of them at the block as they were for nothing because the trade hated them.He would reblock the bad ones.

I've always been a Renault man. Sadly the trade has learned not to mock them anymore, they are a damn fine product and the old french wives tales are a thing of the past, sadly resulting in lesser margins for us original french boys.

Good luck with that.Espace’s are not that old but they must be virtually extinct by now, that’s how good they were.My experience with them was that they were a nightmare and the punters for them were just as bad.Did anyone make any money on them ?

The one car that has given me more bang for my buck was the Espace, think I did just short of a double century before they fell off the cliff to be replaced by the 'Grands'. The only car I'd travel for, the only car I never got outbid on (until the last year or so when a guy in Kent started buying them all  presumably for export to France )and the only 7 seater you could sell that you knew would never come back for anything major. Just a very well made and thoughtful car. Still see the odd one going through with ridiculously low guide prices that are usually smashed.

As for the OP,  you will need a new virgin key and of course programming.

I'm not the type to loosely accuse, iv'e got an opinion too, and it's my opinion that in recent posts you have patronised and antaganized other users on this forum and then you seem happy to go on to directly insult said users, witness your recent snipe at boycie after he pulled you on your generalisation that too many idiots were buying auction cars, it was a simple ask the result being a snide remark about him needing mental help or words to that effect, totally underhand and certainly not banter, you even told me i was a gofer, whatever that is?

regards thread content, it would be fare to say you are currently contributing little on here in the way of facts, help, or industry news,

it matters not who starts a thread, its a forum not bingo, do i want to have confrontation on here? - of course not, am i likely to take shite on the chin? - no fooking chance, am i bothered about any outcome whether that be insults or even a ban off here? - not at all.

of course people come and go on here being a forum, my point was members are leaving because of current negativity, that's a fact.

    Well said.

Excellent answer there, i do not use Autotrader as it doesnt work for ME i dont see the need to bash people who do.

Nor me, it's a rather bizarre point of view.

Notice a lot of thank you comments on social media like Autotrader done you any favours from the goodness of there hearts, they responded to a massive reduction in customers like they have never seen before they had to do something to try and keep dealers.

When the going was good give they give two hoots about price markers ? did they hell as like.

Still say Ebay motors missed a massive opening they may never get a similar chance.

All of this. They missed a huge chance when the goal was gaping, not it's just got smaller. Very silly.

That is the best yet. What a character, makes the other interviewees look like amateurs, works round the clock, doesn’t sleep much, these type of guys are very brave and they have rhino skin. What impressed me is that he does all that and he is off 5. !

Off 5 you say. Think I'll have to break my cherry and give this a listen.

For all forum members who don't subscribe to the magazine, I think we all should. Many of us pay thousands a year to advertise our cars and this is something like £50 a year a no brainer.

I'd go with this. I'm sure we could get it organised.

Obviously those that pay get an award and a VIP night out which includes hookers, columbian marching powder and dwarfs.

  8. I know there are more important things going on, but the lack of moderation on this site is concerning. If they can't be moderated then put some systems in place to stop attention seekers like the OP from starting thread after thread.

If it was my forum I'd be having a word  or doing something before folk leave and don't come back.

  9. You have to take your hat off to both Jim and Umesh. I mean, they don't have to do what they have done and continue to do. I certainly wouldn't be arsed with it. There are not many in this trade who have my full respect, but these guys do.

Just a shame Jim no longer posts on here, maybe now that certain posters (who bizarrely had beef with the IMDA) have rightly been asked to leave Jim could get back on the pitch.

I know someone that lives in wuhan. He’s a teacher and married into a local family. It’s been interesting comparing his version of events with our own news outlets?

Surely the Mail and Express wouldn't be involved in scaremongering, would they.......

  13. Sorry I can't help, but back in the day after they were raped by the pheonix four, boy did I shift some MG's, no doubt many did. The ZR's in particular were like shelling peas.

I've often looked at the newer ones ( probably from a nostalgia point of view) and apart from the badge, there is nothing about them that shouts 'MG' and haven't bothered with them, the four door saloon model is particularly a horrible piece of work.

No doubt they still have a following which is good, but I can't help think the designers at the new MG have missed a trick.

Anyway, the MG SVR, what a car that was, at I time when I actually liked cars rather than hated the fecking things.

I took all the high price markers off AT on the 5th Dec, but I know what you mean, its not an uncommon ocurrance to have to 'adjust' the online price in a hurry, and often when the customer is still on the premises viewing the hanger price in the window,  I'm sure all the boys with open forecourts will know where i'm coming from

Indeed. Amazing how those sixes and nines often get mixed up.:o

I understand your frustration, I really do but I would like to make 3 points.

    1. There is absolutely no basis for legal action against autotrader. None whatsoever. an expansive excersize in futility at best. If you found a lawyer opportunistic enough to take it up...and it would be oppertunistic, because they would KNOW there was no chance of success...in court when the judge stopped laughing he/she would find in favour of autotrader and award costs against the plaintiffs without a doubt.

    2. Autotrader do not care about you, me or most on these forums. They don't need to, most of our accounts are four figures monthly. Can you imagine the monthly spend for big franchises and supermarkets? These are the clients Autotrader are interested in and will take notice off.  The price markers will suit them as it gives the impression that the cars they sell are low priced and good value.

    3. We are all big boys and girls here, so are responsible for our own destinies. We are under no obligation to use Autotrader or any other platform. If we do its on their terms and conditions (within the law obviously) the same as when a customer buys a car from me, its on my terms (within the law obviously) and I can ask any price I choose.

I think your quoting the wrong person, I couldn't give a flying feck about AT or their price markers.

If your having AT problems I feel bad for you son, I've got 99 problems but AT ain't one, hit me.

i agree to that they have properly fucked me. I started last summer after being out the game 35 years and they led me up the garden path telling me i was buying wrong cars etc take this desirability app and you'll do okay so i clear my stock and buy sought after cars in my area in then they bring in the indicators.Fucking spot on AT

I'm getting the feeling that AT and the car supermarkets are the same animal

Did they put a gun to your head Narcos style when they did this?

I'm sorry you seem to be struggling with the job I really am, but this attitude is everything that is wrong with modern society. FFS, take some responsibility for you own actions, man the fuck up and start to row your own canoe.

Jeez, just when you think you've read it all.

Hello all, apologies for jumping in and not doing it properly. Saw traders thread and got a lot from it. Didn't think to much, just registered and replied.

The plan is to set up in Hereford, I've got some car dealing experience overseas (Oz) sold a small indy landrover service and sales garage 3 years ago, been looking for the next venture ever since.

Good luck with your deliberarions trader.

Thanks halfpenny. That's the plan, specialisation has worked before.

No need to apologise to me, not sure when AD was appointed moderator of this forum but hey ho.

I know a couple of LR specialists ( one dealing purely in classics) who have done very well out of them. I've often thought of getting into them as if ever a location suited them it's North Wales but didn't want to go down the route of employing mechanics and setting up extra workshops to keep the bloody things on the road. Stick to what you know and all that.
