The Great British Fuel Card Rip Off

Recommended Posts

A Few years ago we decided to get some Fuel Cards, not to save money but we seemed to have a problem with lost fuel receipts.  We decided to go with the Fuel Card company and although there was no great saving, the ease of use of a bill each month certainly helped my receipt headache.

Anyway 2 years down the line and I have to admit this is hard to say but we have been robbed blind! Every week we receive a set price for our fuel by email, of course I would check to see if the prices were inline with the pumps and they were so after a while I stopped checking.... More the fool me!!

I have just found out that we have been paying £1.29 PLUS VAT for Diesel from Texaco - I don't need to say anymore, I'm angry, annoyed and frustrated at myself.

Lesson learnt, don't become complacent in this day and age with anything.

Guys if you have fuel cards all I can say is check your pricing as you might be involved in the Great British Fuel Card Rip Off too!

Had similar with Shell , couple of years ago filled my car up £70 - when the bill came through just glanced to make sure reg no's tied up - I thought it didn't make sense - added vat to it and it was about £2.70 more - quizzed the company - they game me some bull but changed the 'settings' so not the pump price matches invoice !

Amazing at 1st they couldn't -( or wouldn't ) understand me , I said I might as well pay with my debit /credit card at the pumps as thats the 'pump' price, but you're adding on anything between £1.50/£3.00 per transaction for using the fuel card.Got to watch every single business - they're all out to scam us :) !!

Allstar introduced a £3 transaction fee a couple of years ago.

I have known of lots of companies thinking that retailers were rip offs because they thought they were paying a lot less than the pump price.

The number that couldn't understand that they had to add VAT to their price frightened me!

I had the same with the Fuel Card Company . They gave me some rubbish that it creeps up over a period of time and it's my job to phone on a regular basis to keep ensuring it doesn't go up.

I said well put it back down then and they said that now I have phoned it will gradually decrease on a week by week basis.

Now i'm using a debit card.

Sounds like a lot of you are having problems with your fuel cards if any of you are having problems I recently managed to help PrestigeDeisels with there fuel cards I work for a fuel card company myself, you should be getting around 81-82 ex cat or 98-99 including vat depending on what card you have, the company I work for doesn't work on margins/ high prices I get a basic and commission on what litres you use so high prices won't be a thing for you :) if Intrested either let me know your contact number or a form of contact :) thanks
