Insurance renewal dilemma

Recommended Posts

Hi all it's been a while. I have been away and have been ill!

My son's insurance is due for renewal in a couple of weeks.

He trades from home part time.

His new quote from bollington is £1900. After phoning them he got it to £1600 and the rep was pushy for him to buy it.

The quote includes

1450 insurance plus a 12% insurance premium tax but won't this be included in the actual premium? Then there's the £150 admin fee... Yes! And £70 for MID management and legal cover.

Rep was pushy saying this is based on your risk.

BUT dont you think insurance will go down now? Because the risk is reduced? We're not trading nor buying due to coronavirus !!

He doesn't want to commit to it and pay for 3-6 months without being able to trade. Even the 6-9 months thereafter business will be down as people won't be looking to spend much post coronavirus...

Hi Tango Victor

Sorry to hear you have been ill, welcome back.

I think £30 per week for motor traders cover is OK,it is tax deductible. If he had a pitch /showroom /workshop with several staff,he might be quoted upto 10 grand.

I think the admin charge is their commission which they now have to declare.

If we get over this plague, there will be a spending spree.

BTW I think Cressida Dick was on telly last night appealing for your return !

Yes they charge you if you wish to ring them up to update mid. Free of course if you do it yourself via online access

Thank you mate.

Yes it's unpredictable but I think i will wind down. I think some people have proven they're silly but a lot have learned that anything can happen at any point.

Ah its mad they're asking retired people to return particularly nhs! It puts them in the vulnerable group and puts them at great risk.

They have to show the insurance premium separately and it is added to your quote

I used billington for years, they were a good company but then they are only a broker at the end of the day

I'm currently with covea and this year my premium with them went down but my rewards went up,I was with Lv before that but they refused to rein sure j guess they dont do motor trade anymore

Its alwaysxworthwhile getting more than one quote but make sure it's not underwritten by some caymen island and not covered by fca rules or wgatever

Tell him to clear his cookies each time and or use VPN on opera or the onion

Oh welcome back,I've had policeman's heal had it over a year terrible it was

Hi TangoVictor, sorry to hear you have been unwell i hope you are feeling better.
I am a motor trade specialist insurance broker offering a personal service and competitive premiums. If you would like to give me a call on Monday I would be delighted to see if I can source the right cover for your Son and would look to save him some money. We understand that in these uncertain times you need to reduce overheads where possible and I can tell you we would certainly not charge you for updating your MID.

It's hard when you're locked inside. Having a longer sentence as i was already at home lol

It can be difficult sitting at home but at least we got some luxuries at home compared to those at Her Majesty's Pleasure

If any of you have an EE contract. Text Britbox to 150 and you will get 6 months of Britbox free. Even then without that its only £5.99 per month. Also don't forget Iplayer, itv hub, 4od, uktv play etc. IPlayer is brilliant and unlike the last three I mentioned has no adverts like Netflix etc

Hi. Hope you’re on the mend mate. No chance of you coming out of Police retirement then?

Thank you sir.

No, no. It's not worth the risk of telling little brats to get off the streets and go home.

If people followed the basic rules our number of infected would be much lower.

80-100 years ago young men were asked to come forward and risk their lives and fight for their country. Which they obliged to.

Today young men (women and even old men) are asked to sit at home. Which they failed to do.
