MGM 11 Posted August 10, 2018 I, like many on here remember these at circa £2k. I also remember mk2 escorts at £200 and Fiesta Sports at £500. Times have moved on and these cars are now in great demand as the market is showing. As the “mid life crisis” age rolls with the times so does the age of car which will be in the greatest demand (was first car or parents owned one) hence now the late 70’s, 80’s and early 90’s cars are increasing and the 60’s and earlier are taking a little tumble. Pre 50’s have taken a real nosedive. Obviously there are exceptions to this but I’m talking generally. £10k is a small price to pay for the excitement of re-living a little of your youth. Yes it’s a cavalier but if you’ve never driven one of these turbo’s then I suggest you put it on your bucket list! I wanted a Lotus Carlton, I waited and waited until they got down to c£15k, tried to find a good one but never did, blinked and they were £40k, blinked again and some are advertised just under the six figure area!!! Was lucky then to get another and had the sri 16v hatch from 93 onwards for three years.. it was a great car to drive, cant imagine what the torque will be like in that turbo, even with 4x4, all pretty agricultural in those days.. remember a friends 2.9 sierra 4x4, sounded great and was quick but liked to wander a fair bit.. Dealer 54 Posted August 10, 2018 (edited) Ah them were the days, astra gte's 8v and 16v versions, nova gte then gsi's, cavalier Sri 130's then cavalier gsi etc calibra turbos............they'd be a thief's dream too. Wasn't a Vauxhall man myself but remember them well, as others have said they are considered collectors items now if you have a minter. I had a fiesta rs turbo in white once, lovely car in it's day. peter..o 8 Posted August 10, 2018 Bit like the v6 clio,bought a phase 2 about 8 years ago for about £10,000,illiad blue 36,000 miles,had plenty of owners so not worth the £30,000+ that some are selling for now,but silly price,as MGM said supply and demand and boyant investors market,and will i think continue, as long as we have these historical low interest rates,it gives people something to put money into with agood chance its going to increase,theres one featured on piston heads at the mo.2003 500 miler......£60,000!!!!!! Nicely presented if I may say, the corner in the workshop also does it justice... wouldnt fret about this becoming a member of the family, there will be some AMG fancier out there in need of the cup holder for sure.. or is it to assist in holding a roll of reddies/removing a suspender belt etc? I loved them at the time but they have been way surpassed by much better machinery. I owned a couple of mk2 RS2000. Keep it to yourself, they weren't that great.
