New companies to purchase stock

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys hope your all well! I am new on this site but have been in the Motor Trade a long time. I source my stock from the usual Bca, manheim, and few online platforms. If I'm honest stock is just getting very expensive day by day. I would appreciate any new potential sites to register? We are Vat registered. And have been trading a long time. Your advice will be appreciated. Thank you Adam.

You can try auction4cars and dealer auction, if you don’t already know about them, but I know about them and don’t bother

Buying stock is the hardest part of the job right now.

There is no golden eggs, and to be frank even if there was stock is so thin on the ground I dont think anyone would share it, for example dealer auction used to bea good source for a lot of people now every man and there dog can get on there and in turn have rocketed the prices.

I agree, and personally I think that they are full to bursting with stock? One of the yardmen that I've known for years admitted that they've had to rent storage space around the local area? Or at least the sites I attend.

I wonder if they might be 'drip feeding' us!

Hi we purchase £5k £10k yes we have a few auction housee within the west midlands. But the issue im finding is prices are shifting between Cap clean and Retail so Margin is not worth entertaining. I will be searching online today for online Trade only sites to join? May be have better luck with that. Again thank you in advance for your reply. Adam

Yes they are.  They are keeping high reserves on vehicles at the moment because there is going to be a crash in the new PCP deals which is evidently showing affect on 2-4 year old vehicle sales and prices.  In a consumers point of view why go for a PCP deal on a Merc 3 years old when you can get a new one with a lower rate APR PCP deal for an extra 40-50 quid per month?

Hold out if you can as the AH have to sell them at the end of the day.  Bedford, P/Wood, Blackbushe, Enfield are not even allowing us to take our old P/ex's down to them so I'm sitting on 9 now from last month and the start of this month.  I even tried to call Chelmsford and Colchester but they were also the same and not allowing more stock to go through.

Picked a car up from BCA measham last week and their car park was heaving, worst I’ve seen it in years. Cars were blocked in and abandoned in any available space possible.

Block prices still arnt the best there though at the min.

I’ve attended a few different auctions recently and they all seem to be chocker block full of cars but prices are strong. Dealer Auction is getting ridiculous (I rejected a diesel Zafira due to the gearbox being knackered - the vendor declared it yet it made more money than I’d bought it at!) but the main problem are the recon costs. I’m plowing hundreds into just about every car I buy.

Hi Adam

So where is the problem.Ex fleet higher miles stuff. It has never been easier to buy,you just have to do your homework properly then press the button. Most of the stuff our guys buy is £500-£600 above Crap Clean and they are for nowt, but I recall we bought a Wrangler last year and paid £3500 over Crap and that was cheap also.If you target 70 cars per day at various blocks around the country you will buy 3 or 4 and nick 2 of them........Anyone disagree.

We don't bother with BCA or MAN, just stick to our locals. For me it seems that most stuff has gone back to sensible levels since mid April so maybe it's postcode based? It's very cyclical round here...everyone does their beans in Feb and March paying close to retail and then we hoover up once their money has run out in April & May.

Not necessarily nick them, but you will spend enough time online watching 3-4 auctions at once that some other stinking bargains do come through which you may not have originally targetted.

Just have to be brave

Just involves putting a lot of time in, if it was easy everyone would do it.  I end up doing alright over the week.

Yes,you have to put a lot of time in,usually hours at home the night before. No body said it was easy, but us old guys were used to working on the pitch then driving far down country late at night to attend some sale the next day.Now you can attend umpteen sales on line in a day !.....If you want to be a good player in this game, just work half days every day.....then the other 12 hours are yours !

I generally select and research (resale value, MOT history, three trade price platforms) around 40 cars per auction with a view to buying 2 or 3 - It is soul destroyingly boring but better than finding out afterwards.

I set a maximum figure for each lot and am strict to within £50 of max and bid in running order (even if a more preferred car is running later on).  Once I have my minimum 2, I come away becuase I don't "want to know" what could have been.

I usually grab a couple of bargains and occassionaly steel the odd one - what do they say, throw enough shit at the wall and some will stick.

I'm local to you Walsall (as in your name not the district) and often frequent BCA Walsall, Wolverhampton and Perry Barr.

Good Afternoon Walsall

I know I have popped up on here a few times, and mods please delete if not allowed.

I work for CD Auction Group - which if you aren't using already, might be a platform for you to source vehicles from?

My email is ed.roots@cdauctiongroup.com and number is 01536 409985, so if you want to discuss our site please let me know.

Also if anyone else on here might be interested, please feel free to get in contact.

I think we do have a few members on here already.
