I don’t use either of these so I wouldn’t know if this is any good or not. Lads I know that do use them say they get a lot of messers. Won’t it be just the same punters looking on both sites anyway?

I use ebay and AT, they both work for me with the older higher mileage stuff. I pay about 1.8k inc VAT a Month for 15 on AT and whatever on ebay. 1.5 average sales and its paid for. If scumtree channels more buyers towards me then great, the scabbers will still have to prove their (intent) to buy with an upfront deposit...

They must have changed there criteria then as to open an eBay pro account you had to be vat registered where as gumtree you didn’t

£568 for a 20 car package seems a bit harsh.

I remember only a couple years ago ebay pro was about £150 a month for 25 car package

Have experience on both last year and whilst I did sell a few cheapies on Gumtree it didn't wash its face over the time I used them. both Fleabay and Gumtree attract an awful lot of messers and timewasters, you'll get a lot of stupid offers from dreamers wanting £2k off a £5k motor, also had my account hacked by scammers who changed all my contact details and prices, massive headache and vowed to stay clear. To me its full of the less reputable "dealers" wanting rid of part ex nightmares. Trying findandmycarfund.co.uk but nothing as yet, still its early days, fingers crossed, £7 a car isn't cheap though

I find eBay (motorspro not auction) very good. Rarely get any messers and find it good value for money.  Loads better than than the disgracefullly outrageous, overpriced Autotrader for the cost/return. Also the site is miles better and less cluttered with sponsored ads, banners, price indicators etc that has helped to ruin AT for me  

We sell 5-10k mostly. 

Tried Gumtree a couple of time’s and was hopeless- attracting loads of messers and the ‘best price mate’ brigade. As does eBay if you go down the auction route rather than classified. 

If ebay were to the include Gumtree with the Motors Pro deal then that’s fine with me, but I won’t be paying any more for it.

We haven't had any joy with ebay, tried everything from 2k -12k cars advertised as classified ads. It might be cheap compared to A/T but return on investment has been terrible for us.

I’m not sure what this news is, apart from old. Ebaymotorspro & Gumtree have been tied up for ages that I’m aware of.

To advertise on gumtree used to be exactly the same amount as eBay. If you’re on eBay(motorspro) you’ll only be on gumtree if you pay extra, if not you won’t be on it. 

Tbh Scumtree is only fit for selling a £30 washing machine or a push bike with a knackered wheel. It is THE place for bottom feeding scum (or, to be fair also just some hard-up people) so I guess if you specialise in scum-mobiles such as Vectras or do a nice line in clocked undeclared write-offs it’s the place for you. Fuck me, when I moved house I decided to advertise a few old household items for peanuts to save me going to the tip, all we’re advert with “COLLECTION ONLY, DO NOT ASK ME TO DELIVER BECAUSE THE ANSWER IS NO”. You can guess the rest, I had nutters wanting me to load-up my car on a cash on delivery service. Some items that were “FREE TO GOOD HOME” attracted the most hopeless idiots I’ve ever had the misfortune of dealing with. In Gumtree world “NO TEXTS” means text at all hours. 

So, although I wholeheartedly recommend eBaymotorspro I, hand on heart, could not recommend Gumtree unless you wish to deal with total & utter pillocks and enjoy getting your time wasted.

Definitely won’t be entertaining Gumtree. I deal with enough numpties as it is. Just had a quick search and there isn’t half some crap on there so not surprised it attracts them. I will stick to what I know works. Thanks for all of your comments.

Yep, the same with Facebook. I’m not on it but ‘er indoors is & I mistakenly mentioned I desperately need some stock. After she showed me the 6th car (clearly under described by a dodgy trader) I told her not to bother. With photos taken outside units & car lots I can’t understand how the public are taken in. CORRECTION; I can understand, a cheap price always attracts vermin.

An example; Pug 207 HDI. Photos outside a pitch, the man also had an old Transit advertised. Anyhow the Peugeot was being sold due to a “newer car”  , mileage & age undeclared, would pass the ONE WEEK MOT with the addition of a tyre & a bulb! This gem was absolute peanuts so some gullible/horrible/greedy Facebook scumbag will no doubt get caught out.

I couldnt give two hoots what everyone else is doing if people are dumb enough to fall for fake traders in petrol stations with a car sales price board in the window then let crack on, standing out from the rubbish is even easier for me, we advertise heavy that we are a car garage and have been in business for twenty years am i the cheapest i would say the most expensive.not everyone on gumtree / ebay wants to buy a pile of crock, they have some very good view rates and decent prices i turn my stock over on average within 30 days. Yes i get the odd 3am how much for hash i mean cash mate, I just ignore them and carry on with my day, Its a module that clearly doesnt fit all but works very well for us so i am over the moon with the link between gumtree and ebay just signed up for 18 months £300 a month for the pair which includes all the bells and whistles, such as Ebay motors website / showroom dedicated call indicator so when people ring in it tells me what car there ringing about and a few more handy little features.

Funny enough before this announcement I contacted ebay about going back on ebaymotorspro. If you don't mind me asking, how many cars are you getting on for £300 and how much extra are you paying for all the bells and whistles as opposed to the traditional ebaymotorspro set up that I was on 2 years ago and what exactly do you get for that? £300 a month plus vat gives me both a Gumtree and Ebay motors pro account this included a 20% discount for an 18month commitment not sure what the standard package is as it was only £40-50 less i didnt go into it.

Gumtree four free featured adds before they where £15 a pop

Dedicated call in line so when someone rings you know its from gumtree and what car there looking at.

The gumtree app is good as well but we already use that.

A call log where you can go back if you missed any calls “hello mr james you rang about our Fiesta” kind of thing I like that feature.

eBay pro gives you same dedicated phone line a showroom / page which you can link your gumtree adds to and act like a webpage

eBay pro also allows you to list your add in HTML whilst I am no expert it makes for adding pictures in your listing like your garage outside or logo very easy, looking forward to having a play with it see what it delivers.

I've found that you need to have the 'Best Offer' option enabled to get results. You also need to edit your ads and subtitles, spec etc.  This topic has been on here before on earlier threads, but the £300 a month for us works very well indeed as I say, as apposed to the outrageous 3k plus a month with Dick Turpin- sorry Autotrader.

It's funny how different things work for different people, but can only speak as we find & have never looked back since dumping AT over a year ago. Pretty much the same sales with massively less advertising spend. We don't only advise on ebay Motors pro, but X&M, Car Gurus, Motors(not convinced on them still), local press etc....

.....at £50 I would maybe think about Gumtree in addition to eBay.

Tried it years ago on a special rate when first partnered with eBay and was okay for swappers but I think only 10% of the customer base are actually in the real world.

Full of idiots who want 5 grand knocking off a 4 grand car plus free delivery to the other end of the country

Were you already on a deal with G/T and E/B and got it changed when they got together or was it up for renewal?

Im on a 18 mnth with Ebay, 12 month in already and about 9 months left on a 12 month G/T package.

Ive 20 cars on ebay but only 10 on G/T. Combined Im paying approx £350 a month.

Just looked up this deal

the cheapest you can now get motors pro is £298 a month. This includes the gumtree deal. 

Thats for only 10 cars a month. Seems hideously expensive when you can list 1 car for a 28 day classfied ad @ £14.99. That means you can place 16 x classified ads for the same price theyre charging per month for 10 listings unless im missing something

I have been with gumtree for three years wasnt on ebay not sure how that changes things, a few local dealers have been offered the same as you where.
