anybody use these? Are they any good?

What are their prices like for buying? I sometimes get some rubbish part ex's that atm i usually stick on ebay, but im fed up of the time wasters. Tried a couple of sites offering to buy scrap cars/breakers however the price is awful. For instance.. i've got a 06 Nissan Xtrail SVE, all the kit on it, sat nav etc, its done 60,000 miles. Been owned by an old farmer, its filthy, proper farm truck, and the clutch/dmf is shagged. Best offer from these buying sites.... £135 ....

Never used them but at £135 for a low mileage X-Trail I'd be going on with it myself! I don't know how much you've got in it but if that's the best bid you can get then even if it needs 3 valets, clutch, DMF, service, MOT, 4 tyres, discs & pads etc. then it's worth going on with.

I use Copart reguarly, as a rule though I never buy from private (traders / individuals), I only ever buy from insurance companies (unrecorded light damage or cat d).

Prices can sometimes go over the odds for the likes of BMWs, Audis, Mercs all the mainstream cars.. the others do go for quite good prices (prices are in line with other auction places such as BCA, eBay).

They load/unload cars using forklifts so sometimes things can get damaged, other than that you would probably achieve slightly below trade in value for your Xtrail if you tart it up before they collect.

There is a £90 listing fee and there's also a collection fee if needed.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Jacob

Yeah..great deal you just have to add another £11k and you get a new poverty model Fiesta ! Can anyone tell me why this new Ford scrappage scheme will appeal to punters !

Also worth bearing in mind that the majority of buyers do not view the car prior to making the purchase (good for you).

If a potential buyer does view the vehicle, they are only allowed to Start the vehicle and they're not allowed to put the vehicle in gear or drive it whatsoever.

I used to over-price cars so I could over-deliver on px values because I realised people feel this strange attachment to their knackered 15 year old heap. Sometimes, regardless of how bad the overall deal was, they'd feel *almost* warmth towards me as I complimented their car and offered more than everyone else for it. That's one idea why it might work.

The other, more likely, is that people are as dumb as s*** and like new things... which is also why the first idea works

I wonder if the unrecorded are only unrecorded at the time of sale? Does the marker ever go on afterwards?

The prices depend on who's bidding. If Europeans are interested in the car, then the prices go more than the car's worth here.

Copart are pretty sneaky with laying the responsibility on the buyer, so if your car does have a problem, then Copart is the way to shift it.

I've always thought NO but I've had 2 instances in the last 3 years where it did! Months later!

First was a MINI that I advertised on behalf of our bodyshop. They had done repairs to it, it was HPI Clear. Luckily for me I had several cars and the MINI had to wait over a month before I advertised it, then it had no interest for a couple of months. I did a new check mainly to get the new CAP values and it popped Cat D! The date of the write off was some 7 months before. It slipped through the net they said and the marker remained. Advertised as cat D it sold for £2K almost instantly and the advert price for the HPI Clear car was £2750 with no calls. Go figure.

The other was really unlucky for me. It was a stolen-recovered 2007 BMW 330 part ex and I was keen to get that marker off (which I have done before on other cars). HPI did remove that marker but instead the insurance company applied a CAT C marker! When HPI contacted them they went through the records, saw that they'd paid out for damages during that theft and slapped a CAT C on. I was absolutely livid. Sold it with no loss but had I not tried to remove "stolen-recovered" the car would be worth two-three grand more.

On copart I'd stay  away from anything that's isn't there for obvious reasons like accident damage or stolen recovered with no keys etc. I buy the odd one and last week  bought a 2014 top spec Kuga  with no keys for half book so very much a case of you pays your money and take your chances.

I also put a few in and if they drive on the transporter that classes as being good enough to be sold as run and drive, not quite surecheck but not far off you might say :D

Yes mate. Got a customer for it and he's not bothered as all sees is a saving of 4k. I doubt he will tell the neighbours.

Fair enough.

Typically CAT cars sold for 65/70% of comparable cars with clear title but I have noticed in the past year that on newer stock like this, this difference is getting smaller.

Hi Guys

Interesting topic. There is a difference in price from scrappers and wreckers. Scrapers cant sell the parts so they have to just export the engine and the rest they will scrap but wreckers can dismantle and sell the parts but this depends on the car year make and model if they can sell the parts. Also there are scrappers and wreckers who can export the cars to third world countries, where they can pay you a bit more for the vehicle.

I am from Australia so not sure over there. Here there are some scrappers who do that buy the whole car and export where you end up getting abit more money. One of the wrecker who are in Sydney called Metro car removal.

Transport down under might kill that deal though

The readable version.

Dear smuchs, I want to buy a car within the next couple of days, however because I couldn't plan a piss up in a brewery I didn't register with copart in time for a car want to purchase because due to a thing called Easter the offices of copart are closed.

The car goes through on Easter monday so even a temporary account if they had  given to me would be fine

So guys n girls I wonder if any of you will share your password details so I can use your account to bid for this car

Thanks in advance

Well mr there was commercial vehicle I wanted 2 months back so I paid the £60 fee booked an appointment at the site took a specialist with me and drove 100 miles to view the  vehicle I had to pay another fiver so he could come to view with me

4 days later I was bidding on it

I couldn't buy it the other bidder went nutd for it

I guess it was going for export

I am £200 down but still have 10 months membership left

They probably won't be open until tuesday because of Easter bank holiday, have you tried contacting their head/your local office? - https://www.copart.co.uk/Content/UK/EN/Contact-Us/Head-Office

They also have a member email: member.services@copart.co.uk

And Twitter: https://mobile.twitter.com/copartuklimited?lang=en

I've heard a lot about it but I've never used it because I haven't had that need yet. My Nissan brought me huge repair bills last year and was my most problematic vehicle. My friend advised me not to tolerate more such waste and sell this car and use the money to buy a new one, for example, 2019 or 2020 year of release. he recommended me an excellent service that helps you quickly and easily sell a car for a good price. Thanks to https://www.wacarremovals.com.au/ I managed to find a good buyer and still get rid of this transport
