The best car you've ever sold

Recommended Posts

Obviously they're all good but, you know, the one you'd have kept yourself or where you thought "you know what Mr Punter? You're getting a real gem of a car there".

We sold a really nice Saab 9-5 2.3T HOT 250BHP a while back. It was just as good as one could be. Owner's club prize-winning material stuff right down to the Saab dustcaps. Proper, proper car - not a mark on it. Drove banging, service history coming out of its ears and flew through it's MOT. Sold it twice in a matter of days after the first guy withdrew. (All the sweeter that we bought it way below book)

A mid 90's Jag XJ6 3.2, burgundy, cream leather, 2 owners from new, 50,200 miles, FSH in virtually brand new condition - about 3 or 4 years ago, bought at the block.

I'd never been in one & it suited me down to the ground, a diesel Focus would have the legs on it & certainly would give better than 23mpg but I loved it - I don't know why, I just did. If I'd had a garage I'd of kept it & I told the buyer the only reason he was buying was because I didn't have a decent garage.

Anyhow £3000 on eBay, one local man came around looking for a deal "cos there's one at a Jag specialist for £4500" Eh??? Work that one out! So I politely sent him on his way.

Two days later he was back on the phone declaring mine cleaner, that my FSH was full & the specialist's wasn't FULL but still trying to chip £100. I had the great pleasure of replying "Sorry Sir, you're a day late, it left London-bound yesterday with its new owner" The best thing was he obviously bought the other one as I regularly saw him driving it until I moved location.

Ive had a few E55's and ran a pre-facelift W210 7 seater estate for about 8 months.....can't get the AMG bug out of my head....  Always been a Merc man, currently have CLS 350d AMG SB estate but its a bit tight on space, Mrs keeps moaning about banging her head... WTF.. (bend down before putting the babies in the car). So no thinking of a E63 Estate.....

In the nineties sold 1978 Ford Escort RS2000. That was so much fun and broke my heart when it went. looking at these now how I wish I'd kept it locked away somewhere, still made £250 on it and thought that was a fortune back then lol. kick-started a spell of me stocking XR2's and XR3's for a while

Sorry, but I don't believe half of the stuff on the internet & I'll add this to the list. Who the fuck is going to pay more than a few grand for a shitty 1.3 Nova with side stripes on it, never mind two (remember it's an auction)?

I'm told these are modern classics but I've also read that "A thing of beauty is a joy forever" :D Not sure how that would sit in your car collection next to your Ferrari GTO, but each to their own.
