Advice needed about Fiat 500 automatic dualogic popping out to gears while driving

Hi this may have been discussed before but need some advice on this we sold this Fiat 500 ( dualogic  ) automatic couple of months back we had complained from customer that some time just randomly while driving it popes out of gear but the gear selector still in gear we got the car back for repair and taking the dualogic unit off and send to BBA REMAN they have checked and found nothing wrong with it. does anyone had the same issue before and can advice what can be the issue or suggest some specialist who can check. Fiat's with this setup have a always worried me to the point I've avoided them after cvt puntos and the magnets in the flywheel mk 1 puntos (who remembers them eh?) 

Anyway a Google to fiat 500 owners shows its common and even was a recall in the USA, seems its a problem with the sillynoids and even a full scan won't show a fault code

No easy fix

On the service side we have the facilities and experience to fix most things - but not these Dualogic nightmares!!  Dualogics are basically a manual gearbox with a 'robot' bolted on to select gears and operate the clutch. Now some years ago both Toyota and Honda tried this approach and neither could get it to work reliably and gave up - they went to CVT. So if the Japs couldn't do it, do you think the Italians can?

Almost any fault puts them into neutral (to protect the gearbox) unfortunately. Scan often doesn't show anything. From what you have described it could possibly be a faulty selector position sensor. But I think this could turn into a bit of a saga for you....

We have sold a fair few of these and as Halfpenny says "nightmares" even for our own very experienced tech's. After doing all the basics and delving deeper a faulty Dualogic usually ends up at the Fiat dealer, from memory around £1500 trade to sort. Feel for you Zahoor. If we get 500 Dualogic in stock now we only retail with outsourced extended warranty built into the deal.

CD MOTORS Staffordshire 07502280932 I found them on ebay search "duologic repair" when I had a problem with the only duologic I ever bought!! Was £550 all in from memory lasy yet . He used to work at the main dealers and he speciliases in repairing these boxes.
