  1. The other Monday when I met EPV at Blackbushe I bought a very clean 2013 Toyota Auris Hybrid in White which was offered MILEAGE INCORRECT due to a MOT discrepancy. Mileage 90500 miles. I have published it here. My hunch was that it was a genuine car with genuine miles and I thought that both MOTs were done by the same garage, one two days after the other because they had wrong details on the system. But when I got the car and looked up the MOT locations online they are not the same. What do you think happened? The car comes with a full Toyota history, serviced on 8/8/2018 at 88064 miles and book stamped, copy of the receipt is present.
  2. The mot changes come into force in May which most of us are aware of, but I didn't realise the equipment needs some update/tweaks, I had a call yesterday from the company that we use saying they'll be along to do the necessary and the cost is £650+ vat , just wondering if anyone can enlighten me me ? Thanks Umesh
  3. Hey, I've spent the last 6 months working on an app for checking the MOT History of any UK-registered vehicle. I released a similar app last year for Android called MOT History Check which exploded with support and feedback, especially from car dealers who used the app the most and sent emails requesting features. What I found was that casual car buyers were typically only using the app a few times while they were hunting for a new car, while car dealers were using it many times per day. With that in mind I tried to make CarKit more tailored to car dealers, with the ability to store lists of vehicles for selling/buying or set up watch lists. It has some additional features like vehicle valuations, tax status, tax band and tax cost. I was wondering if you'd be able to give me some feedback on the first version of the app. Car dealers are the primary users of the app so I'd greatly appreciate your thoughts on it. Thanks, Tom.
  4. Lost in yesterdays budget announcements, is the changes in the car industry. 22. Road tax will be reformed and the money raised spent on the road network The road tax system will be revised to make it fairer and sustainable. From 2017, there will be a flat rate of £140 for most cars, except in the first year when tax will remain linked to the CO2 emissions that cars produce. Electric cars won’t pay any road tax at all and the most expensive cars will pay more. Existing cars won’t be affected – no one will pay more for a car that they already own. The money brought in from road tax in England will be spent on England’s roads from 2020. The government will extend the deadline for the first MOT of new cars and motorcycles from 3 years to 4 years. Interestingly, what could this cost the industry? Will it extend the renewal cycle for those consumers who change just before the MOT?Will Lease/CH companies look to increase their average contract period to 4-years?How much will it cost those who rely on MOT work for income?Does it actually cause a change to the price you would pay for a used car - 3-4 year old, as the existing MOT won't influence it?How did you view these changes?
  5. Strange two things have happened this week regarding Main Dealer service dept. 1st - Had a Hyundai serviced by main dealer this week , 2nd service - on time as its only done 5900 miles - got the car back going through the invoice for curiosity of breakdown of costs - replace spark plugs !! now looking at the list of ' 2 year /25,000 mile ' service technically its due but doesn't common sense come into the equation at times ? [ I didn't pay the full ' menu' price as I got a deal ] but when i booked it in surely the receptionist could have said about the spark plugs etc etc ! 2nd Just sold an MX5 to a customer and he asks me if the ' bottle for the puncture repair kit is up to date as its an MOT failure' I said I've never heard of that being part of the MOT. He went on tell me he's just had his Honda MOT'd at the main dealer and they rang him to tell him that would want replacing as its out of date for the MOT. [ The Mazda MX5 Bottle says best before 10/11 -serviced by Mazda and sold my Mazda Main dealer in 2012 , so you'd think they would have replaced it during the servicing or prior to selling to last buyer - wouldn't you? ] I just asked the workshop next door - they thought i's lost the plot as its nothing to do with the MOT [ Had to ask just in case new rules had crept in and I wasn't aware ] Any comments !
