  1. Never use HANDLER PROTECT vehicle warranty. Their warranty agreement is designed to never pay you the repair expenses. For any fault, they'll find a reason to decline your clime. I climbed 4 times the repair expenses and they all 4 times refused to pay. This is the worst car warranty service.
  2. We have had a busy couple of weeks with contact from a number of clients seeking advice on a potential scam letter they have received regarding VAT registration numbers. We have been asked to advise on a letter from “UK- DATA CONTROL” The letter says that there is missing information about your VAT registration number and asks for businesses to update the VAT registration number on their database. The letter states that this is free, however, we have been advised that businesses have actually been charged £790.00 for 3 years membership. Membership means that your VAT registration number is published on their database for 3 years. We understand there is no particular benefit or need to have this information on their website and we would advise that the information is not given to the company. UK Data Control appear to be a business based in Hamburg and are not linked to HMRC or any other public authority or official entity and therefore this is not a request or demand for this information that you are obliged to give, despite the ‘deadline for submission’ date that is on most of these letters. If you receive a letter like the one stated above and are a member then please do contact us for advice.
  3. We have a Qashqai is up for sale on Autotrader. Received a text today offering a fairly reasonable price for the car (well over trade)... Of course, my BS meter went off the scale, if you go to the website they're using Autotrader colours and similar logo's trying to fool the public into thinking they're part of AT group ! Of course its a con and if i had follow through apparently i would have got to the point where i need to give them a deposit for them to buy "MY" car.. Has anyone else had these yet, i'm guessing they just focus on what they see as consumer cars. I guess some poor sods must really fall for this scam?
  4. This has just been posted on #TCDUK : http://twittercardealers.ning.com/ But I though just in case some of you are not on there its worth re-posting on here. Original post by Joe o'kane. Thanks Joe this has been doing the rounds for awhile but always a reminder of how vulnerable we can all get , especially with new /untrained/ gullible sales staff wanting 'that deal' ! "Below is a notification I received this morning from usedcarsni.com - this has happened in Northern Ireland, but I suppose it could happen anywhere ...... Dear all, Please be aware of a credit card fraud operation that is going on at the moment, targeting local car dealers. it's a very serious scam because the whole thing sounds plausible enough and they have already been successful in stealing some cars in Northern Ireland. The cases we have been told about were 'customers' phoning from Birmingham and surrounding area, looking to purchase vehicles via credit cards. The payments cleared via card terminal but were flagged up as fraudulent later by the real card holders. Apparently it often takes 2 or 3 weeks for this to happen and the money is still charged back, resulting in a huge loss to the car dealer. The fraudsters provided a copy of a fraudulent driving licence and insisted on a quick vehicle transfer to the mainland. Below are some mobiles, names and email addresses already used within this scam. Note : they will very likely be changing the names and numbers often, so this is not at all an exhaustive list. Adam Joe - 07466596667, 07440470664, email details – nonstop121@live.com Hashi Musse - 07835203811, 07562695129, 07704375782, email details – du07@hotmail.com If you have had this happen to you or have had this attempted and have any names, addresses, phone numbers, drivers licences or any details, please contact the investigating officer below. The PSNI are trying to find as much information as possible to help the police in GB to find the vehicles that have been stolen. Investigating officer to contact in PSNI is Constable Roger Williams &n dash; 07584282317 or emailroger.williams@psni.pnn.police "
  5. Just spotted this article / warning on ATM Community - just in case some might not have seen it ! Not sure how this can happen but obviously a big concern for all . "Anonymous - December 2013 SCAM: Wanted to let everyone know, so hopefully nobody else gets stung. We have been "scammed" via the internet this week, to the tune of £49,000. The scam goes as follows: We bought 3 vans off genuine suppliers, over the phone and by email. They then emailed us an invoice & bank details for payment. In between the email leaving the supplier's computer, & arriving in ours, the bank details have been changed. If you email the supplier to ask if it's right that the bank details have changed, the "scammer" emails you back (as them) saying its correct. We've lost £49,000 this week. The bank doesn’t want to know, as our bank is secured, we've basically just paid the "wrong" people. Local police not interested, pass you onto the National Fraud Team, who are dealing with 2000 of these per day. Please share so nobody else out there gets scammed."
  6. All People stealing cars from us, using fraudulent credit cards, or just simply being brazen enough to drive the car straight off the forecourt seems to be on the increase. We are seeing stories on a regular basis of dealers having vehicles removed from them through all manner of fraudulent means. Clearly, the first port of call should be to notify the police, who in turn will put this on the PNC so that HPI can update their records. However, this section of the forum is available for any dealer to place details of any cars that may have been stolen, or to help warn others about any scams in your local areas.
