  1. Hi All, I am looking for a website provider that will provide a really good looking website (dont mind if its from a template), and that allows you to load the cars easily (getting vehicle data from DVLA / UKVEHICLEDATA). I would like the standard options / extras to be populated too so that the customer can view a high quality informative stock page. Either a cloud based solution, or a solution using Wordpress with plugins / theme. Many thanks in advance.
  2. Hi, does anyone know, in how many days after buying a car the dealer have to send the V5C certificate to DVLA? Is there a law about this? A time limit or something. I have bought a car a month ago, and I didn't received the new V5C certificate. I have contacted the dealer, and they have sent it to DVLA, 27 days after I have bought the car. That means I have wait even more until I get my certificate, and now that DVLA is not processing anymore, is probably going to be even longer than usual.
  3. Hi All, I’m new here and wanted some advice pls, I have a stock car which was hit from behind and now has been written off by the insurance company, 3rd party admitted fault, the insurance company have asked for all paper work which I have sent, but the V5 was not on my name due to filling out the trader part. They have asked me to prove the vehicle is mine? By contacting DVLA and requesting this information. Has anyone been through this? If so, is this normal? As when I called DVLA they have said I need to write in and they will check it is in trade and this could take up to another month (been 2 months already) Any help is appreciated......

  5. Not in anyway knocking DVLA , The new on line system is great , works very well, no hassle , retentions on line all good but no wonder so many cars are getting caught with ' no tax' when they are taxed. Here's an example : This morning we MOT'd a car and taxed it on line at about 9.30 ish , printed the confirmation for tax like I do every time. Just curious I checked the status on line to see what it said according to DVLA ' Check if car is taxed' ( See Attached) Not Taxed & No MOT ! Now I thought it all updated ' instantly' obviously not ( Although it says if MOT'd within last 5 days it may not show ? why not? ) but then if it hadn't updated the MOT side I couldn't have taxed the car as it had expired ! I guess I could easily get caught out ( or my customer) if they drove down the road .
  6. I thought I'd spotted a printing mistake this morning on the retention form (V317) How wrong was I !! It transpires the old retention fee of £80 + £25 is old new ! Great news the retention is same as transfer fee - just £80.. Came into force March 9th 2015 ! A great story but DVLA kept it quiet ... or have I been asleep !
  7. Brought to my attention this morning by James Sapeira @JamesSaperia We can now tell DVLA Instantly when when are taken in part exchange on behalf of the customer ! [ Only if you want to tell them .. if you want a couple of days grace to run the PX about then i guess use old fashioned method ] https://www.gov.uk/motor-traders-sale-vehicle Think personally its the way forward -! Thanks James for keeping us posted
  8. Well, the big day is nearly upon us: The Big Changes To The Tax System That Didn't Need Changing Day. I'm prepared - I took the tax disc out of my car at the weekend and marvelled at how much prettier it looked without the overpriced, multi-coloured piece of perforated paper in the corner of the windscreen. But I know I had it easy. You guys must really be struggling. What have you done in the end? Have you had tax refunded? Have you made a collage out of the old discs? Fed them to the office dog? I'd love to hear how you're preparing for the big switch.
  9. I just checked a few of mine and they are coming up as either still taxed (ex-Motability especially), Untaxed or SORN. None of them are 'passed to Trade' Should I/we be concerned?
  10. Just opened the post and I have a cheque from the DVLA for tax refund ! You'd be thinking well what's wrong with that ? I'm speechless as the car has just gone through cherished transfer 2 weeks ago - I have the new disc AND am keeping the car on the road - UME 511P - Not only do I have a cheque but its addressed to a friend of mine who's not been involved in this transaction at all - both cars are registered to myself - let me check my name to be sure ' UMESH SAMANI ' SO HOW do they address the cheque to 'Adam Alcock c/o Umesh Samani ?? You have to see the cheque to believe it !
