Mate I know but I can’t risk him taking us to trading standards. I swear we haven’t done anything wrong at all and can prove this but they’ll definitely find something on a 13 year old car. I hate people who take advantage of people who genuinely trying to earn a living and not cheating the system!!

I dont get the fear of TS there mostly an underpowered underfunded misinformed organization, every dealing i have had with them i knew more about the case law than they did.

If your confident in your position then stand your ground.

Yikes! Sounds like a ‘story car’. In this context, your  mistake was registering it in your name? With debt collectors, it’s like a game of tag and now you’re ‘it’

i would have gone with "and posted to DVLA" as the biggest error, why wouldnt you use electronic transfer and put your trust in the post office ? we have had a few of these and i just send confirmation email from the dvla showing i no longer own the car end off doesnt matter when i delivered it, the fine must go to the recorded keeper of the car simples.

Blimey, those were the days, before auctions put trade prices in the catalogue. Sitting in the auction cafe, rushing through the lists with CAP book. Seems like ‘light years’ ago now.

Having to tap up a local main dealer to get last months book, arghh distant memories indeed.

The smart phone has a lot to answer for.

  4. Agree with FHP if i was in bca shoes i would have done this years ago, i bet they have hundreds of clawback requests every week.

No idea why your bank need to freeze your account for five days over one suspect transaction, sounds like overkill again is that BCA fault.

for the record i think there a bunch of cowboys as well but cant be blamed for everything that goes wrong

  5. There is no one working there or hardly anyone, I know of at least 3 working from home doing a 3rd of they used to be seems to be the new

level there expected to reach of calls, we used to have a walk in desk where it was quicker for me to drive 5 mins up the road and que behind 2 Mr Jones who couldnt fill in there v62's than ring them but even that has now closed.

We are quite simply no one put up or shut up would be there answer.

Its a game of numbers we used to have over a week 100 cars to view and be lucky if we bought ten now its more like 150 cars and be lucky to get 5

Thanks justina gonna try the grade 4 5’s from bca. Just out of interest how much are you paying for a bumper blow in ?

Depends on the colour some of these crazy baby blue's and beige 500's for example you cant just flick around you have to do half a bumper, so easy colour £60-80 and pain in the backside £100 but the job is very good i can find cheaper but cant be dealing with having to clean the wheels with overspray ect

  8. Why doesnt the op just buy grade 5 stuff at any of the big players loads of it around, and so i am told far better prices than copart as the weekend warrior stays clear of auctions, again this is third hand have no experience in this market.

I cant get my painter to do a simple bumper blow in at a decent time frame so would be of no use to me,

Had a ford ka which has same engine, if there isn’t enough power in battery stop start won’t come on, you’ll get that warning yellow light. Also it should have  an actual stop start battery or will run the power down pretty quick .

Agreed seen loads of these with a chepo 063 stuck on it the stop start battery is almost twice the size and for sure three times the price, the fault really does sound power related.

And the next silly question please

We await with baited breath pointy shoes and a bacon buttie with extra tomato:D

Anyone who has spent enough time in auction houses will know the extra tomato ordered at the counter is a blag and often ends up in the bin outside the cafe.

sorry slighly off topic the extra tomato threw me, to answer the op you will never match a main dealer price and there margin isnt as big as some would think it is.

It has nothing to do with adding services, people whom like to buy from main dealers used section are buying a lifestyle choice no more no less.
