  1. Hi guys,not had one of these,got a customer looking to p/x 2006 prius t spirit 120,000 proper car 2 owners,with history etc.(not toyota),any ideas on a value/underwrite,thanks in advance,Peter

  2. Hi all, sold a 2009 rio diesel on 27 jan 17,no issues or contact till now, broke down this week with a loud bang and wodn't run properley, thankfully stopped straight away and parked it,we went out within 2 hours and rcovered the car, turned out to be a seal on the intercooler(where the tank meets the core)so replacement intercooler required, replaced this(local factor had one in stock wich suprised us muist be a common part)but customer (his daughter actually)refusing to pay citing unfit for purpose etc.the fault was not there at point of sale and is just a sudden failure of that part, any thoughts, regards to all,Peter

  3. Hi Grant,we have always had 3 courtesey cars to keep our punters happy(we stock about 50/60 cars and hopefully do 8/10 per week)we do a fair bit of aftersales servicing/repairs etc so not just used for warranty work, could not manage life without them as it keeps all happy,we usually source our courtesey cars from bca over winter time when prices a bit lower, dont have anything fancy just some 3/4 year old samllish cars wich we put on our traders policy, reagrds,.Peter

  4. Just a couple that you guys might come across,Had a 14 plate fiat 500 pop stop start with the stop start not operating, couldn't see any reasons why,no fault codes/good battery/good charge rate etc.had a word with Fiat dealer, realy helpfull chap in service dept.he said just charge battery overnight with a good charger on low setting, this sorted it,also had a 55 volvo s40 with none of the radio speakers working, but all the tweeters were ok,turned out to be all 4 speakers had failed!!! last thing we thought.

  5. Defo seen a big change here(southport)lots of customers saying no diesel whatsoever, excuses ranging from big uncertantity what is going to hapen with future residuals, tax issues, emmission charging, to personal issues with harmfull emissions, had a lady ring up today to ask about a petrol qashqai we have in, and asked three times "its definitley a petrol isnt it....dont want a diesel"

  6. Hi,defintely seen a more cautious approach from customers regards to diesels, like Tom said in post 2,some people will only want diesel due to specific needs, tow vehicle or high miles per year use,but the customer who doesnt need these things is definately thinking about petrol cars now,my wife and I both have diesel cars, but for specific needs,I tow with my Grand picasso 2.0 hdi and we use her Pug.3008  for our trips up to the lakes 2/3 times amonth so it gets a good motorway run quite often. Its the people who have these diesel cars and DONT do the occasional long run in a lower gear who suffer the problems connected with diesels. Also regular oil flush/changes with addative in the fuel can avoid alot of the troubles, manufacturers who say you can do 18/20,0000 miles on a diesel between services  are just a joke and asking for trouble, those sort of intervals are there  for one reason only,to make that manufcturer look good for fleet operators to lower there operating/service costs without any thought as to what it can do to the inside of the engine. As with most things mechanical use it properley and follow advice/instructions there will be no problems.

  7. Finished on 8 this week(out of 50 in stock on sale,we always have another 10/20 waiting/sold etc)just one today(about 3.30 pm),thought we were going to blank today, but seems very quiet on enquiries, any body elses thoughts on how busy/quioet it seems?regards to all,Peter

  8. Hi all, that time of year, just done a HRW repair on a kia, some small breaks in the HRW bands, got some electric conductive paint from maplins worked a treat, was using "granville" hrw paint  but just didn't seem to work, but the maplins stuff seems really good.

Talking about theI "Italian tune" as mentioned above, bought a kia rio 1.5 diesel from bca last week with a failed mot emmisions report, just flushed out oil and then oil cahnge,£10 worts of super diesel and two tins of "Forte" diesel system cleaner, good thrash up the by pass and passed MOT with flying colors, mega result!!!

  9. Strugling to understand this job at the mo.we have had a really quiet couple of months now,had half year accounts done and at the end of august was showing a small profit witch we were very happy with(we all take a fair wage and with the cash bits you get owning your own business and all the other benefits such as free insurance,r/tax,repairs/petrol alowance/etc etc we do ok)but since sep. we have been very quiet, but the auction prices in no way reflect our state, any other thoughts on this issue, thanks in advance,Peter

  10. had something similar on a kia carens 2009,knocking at the front, was convinced just usual anti roll bar links, put two on but still the same, ended up just being the top mount bolts

for the shockers just needed tightening up and sorted!!!

  11. Just remembered a couple of other qickies, rear water leak on aygo/c1/107,quite common i beleive, and often really pours in,is usually the high level centre brake lamp seal, take out lamp and you will see it perishes, just refit with a neat bead of silicon selaer. Also had 2010 golf with no remote locking(was working)just disconnect battery,re connect and work locking from key in drivers door(old fashioned way)this should reset and workok.Few weeks ago had Note 1.6 petrol with oil leak.took out box to inspect thinking it wqould be rear main but ended up being a blanking plug behind flywheel that screwed into block, wasn't really tightened properly,so just reseales and winched it up,regards to all.(any body got any more?)

  12. We do ok with all these(107,c1,aygo)older higher milers still ok if priced sensibly, dont forget the aygo(later ones)had 5 year warranty, and that combined with the toyota badge is prob. why they can be a bit more money.
