I guess the problem is the invoices all have customers names, phone numbers, addresses, etc.

So does this mean bca will stop giving out service invoices with cars as lakeside said above. as these invoices will have previous owners details on.

same as the v5 has the last two owners on the front with names and addresses? lets face it no one never really needs to no who the last 2 owners were apart from dvla

seems all abit silly if you ask me

then you get random cold callers offering crap where they get my details, thought they were secure

I can’t blame them. They don’t employ staff to drag up old invoices, redact customer details, scan them & then email them.

Never mind GDPR, I’d simply tell you “No”.

TBH GDPR has nothing to do with it I am interested in the vehicle don't want to no anything about the last owner, as for dragging up old invoices hardly hardship when things are all on computer

Have BCA stopped passing on invoices now as well? Might just be coincidence but that last few cars I’ve bought, even with full history, have only come with the service book and nothing else.

I dunno if they have stopped or the car only came in with the book its a shame because I would rather invoices over the book anyone can stamp the book.

This car I have got has got full ford service history including cambelt change but no invoices just book I am waiting on a call back from ford tomorrow fingers crossed

  5. Hi guys hope everyone is making lots of money and selling :)

Now and then if I have a car come in with full main dealer service history but only with a stamped book I ring said dealer and ask for service invoices to be sent by email with work carried out to back what the book is saying, but lately I am getting the response we cant do that due to data protection even though I have V5 with previous owners details. I even say block them out and then send me the invoices

Do any of you guys get this or is just me?

My MOT Guy just called in to get a Code Read on his 4x4, he is pissing himself, "Fucking twat advised that !!" was his comment

However, he did say since this years new regs came in a lot more is now "In the opinion of the tester" so I'm guessing your guy is a real anal one.

BTW another of my pet hates is Mechanics / Garages who do not reset Service Indicators when they Service a Car, or don't Erase a Fault Code once fixed :(

That is a part of the bloody job !!

And don't get me started on the absolute morons who do "Diagnosis" by pulling Wiring Plugs off while it's running "to see if it makes any difference mate" .......................

Then the Car ends up at a decent Garage with a few hundred Codes and CAN Bus errors in it

that is exactly what i thought when i looked at the sheet   just cant get the staff

  7. So took a 2008 corsa d for M.O.T today still had a ticket valid until march 2019 with no advisories

Car passes with 1 advisory inspection light on?

so the INSP light where the miles show is now an advisory? I am aware this means its due a service or on some newer models you get INSP 2 which means a bulb may be blown ect?

best bit is I just had my mechanic service it and he hadn't reset the light NOT HAPPY and I have let him no, but these things happen what I cant understand how it falls under an advisory trying to explain to a customer what that light was is going to be fun.

Do you still use your Tornador mate? I’m still mulling over getting one to do the whole interior of a car.

I am guessing a Tornador is some sort of steam cleaner?

If you want cheap and cheerful - get a Titan from Screwfix - cheap as chips and brilliant

Have just been looking at these I think its worth the buy just because how cheap it is.

then maybe add a George further down the line for the the deep cleans

Our original pitch pays out a fortune to AT.However at our new one ,for the moment we have a 5+2 AT starter pack and I think it costs just over £2 per day per car.I don’t know whether this is a special deal but I found that the lady I dealt with at AT was very helpfull and as good as her word which is quite rare these days.If anyone is interested I can get her contact number as she works from home and has been with AT for many years.

    I'm interested

We have ATM or smart buying as they call it now on PAYG basis! & think we'll be cancelling that as well..

Autotrader a big hassle & extremely expensive compared to other sites!

How much do you pay for that and what do they actual give you?

Not 100% but i dont think you can with PAYG

I thought that but when you upload pictures it says upload pictures or video but wouldn't surprise me you don't get much as pay as you go.

I keep thinking of going on the 5+2 contract but haven't took the leap

    have you thought about it?

  13. I pay £150 per month for 3 cars storage outside secure site they let me have access 24/7 with a key I think its pricey but i needed somewhere and they have said If I need more space I can have it. Just seeing how it goes for now trying to keep my overheads low.

I say go for it give it 3 months if its not working then look for somewhere else.

Based in Stamford (bloody posh town, can't stand it but the Mrs loves it)

not near me then im in Buckinghamshire, was thinking could of went 50 50 on a unit as im in same boat as you doing this part time, full time mechanic want to do this full time

If you have to tax DD past the 15th of the month they’ll take two payments in one go on the first, it’s not that simple as paying for one month...

It worked out cheaper for me to rent a unit, 20 indoors and 4 outside than to pay the tax, plus the bloody logistics was a nightmare. Selling from home isn’t scalable unless you have lots of space.

Units around my way are so expensive looking at £1500 min a month for a decent size one, need an alternative really.

    This.

Just be aware that you need a certain level of package to have your website linked. You can’t do it on a PAYG advert.

Also, AT won’t put up with you putting your website link on your strap line. You may get away with it for a while but eventually they will make you take it down.

One thing I would add to this is you seem keen on keeping your advertising costs to a minimum and almost begrudge paying for marketing. I’d suggest you spend as much money marketing as you possibly can whilst working out what advertising is expensive (the kind that doesn’t work)

people make a business outside of using AT on here, it can be done. Just don’t cut corners in the wrong place.

    Thanks EPV

so do you mean a pay and go dealer on AT if so that's a pain because I am pay and go traders club, AT keep telling me they can put me on contract for £500 per month min thats just way to much for me at the moment or are they just trying to rip me off
