Had awful issues with Peugeots, DS3's and Minis with the 1.6 engine drinking oil
Much improved, less cam chain problems, not perfect

N18 is the newer BMW engine fitted to cooper s after 2010 and JCW 2012
The previous N14 peugeot is the one to look for timing chain rattles and coked up bits.
If well maintained an N14 will last as well as the next engine, its just lack of oil changes and general poor maintenence that kills these
We sell em all day long - but we are very selective about what we buy and will only get an assured car form BCA unless my tech is at the block with me to listen - however a timing chain change isn't that big or expensive a job, its when its not done that the issues arise....
Also could be a Vanos unit as these stick
Or HPFP
Expensive part, easy fit
I was hoping you would reply
Lets be honest, low fuel pressure and a misfire does point ot the HPFP rather than those other things.
Just not sure I am brave enough.
That said a lot of those HPFP's seem to be sold on eBay and plenty of forum threads point to them -
Several N18 engined Mini Cooper S in the catalogues recently with the following fault codes.
Am I right that a High Pressure Fuel pump should fix them?
P0087 - Fuel rail/system pressureP0300 - Misfire-more than one cylinder
P0304 - Misfiring on one or more cylinders
P0302 - Misfiring on one or more cylinders

Thanks, anyone else ?

This tidy P/X thats too good to auction away : 2006 Focus 1.4 Petrol idles evenly but surges / accelerates by itself whilst driving.
Common sense suggests sticking throttle body, but surely that would cause a high / low idle.
Google suggests 100s of things, anyone on here able to put a finer point on things ?Cheers

Yep - seemingly as long as they cover what they paid for them, they rarely go provisional too.
Also lots of new low mileage cars that go well below on occasion

Typically everyone overcompensates with heroic online bidding.

Because these larger companies only care about revenue in order to service their debt and stay open.
They probably still do ok because of the quantity they move after finance kickbacks and PX margin.

We have only been in the trade for over 2 years but for the last 6 month now we had extreme "Sahara desert" quiet period. Calls and emails we get are just ridiculous its either £1000 discount people want or they are not happy with their part ex prices, they want basically retail prices for their cars. I dont know if its our prices, our images, our description or i dont know. We have 5* reviews, we do warranties, we do finance and we have moved into brand new indoor showroom that will be finished at the end of this week. We will retake all of our images at the new showroom this weekend, i really hope it will somehow bring more customers. Here is our website www.randkautohouseltd.co.uk any advice of what you think would be much appreciated.
Have things improved ?

They used to get some excellent reposessions from ING. Could never understand why they ended up there.

Not sure now, but some of these rough places were great to buy at some point when main dealers used to offload because a lot of the regulars don't acually buy, its more of a social club for them and there is little competition for stuff over £2k.

Looks like another BS platform like CarWow to be honest.
