Your being a skin flint in fact you might be robbing him even . Hes not robbing you at that money . Especially if hes a good painter . Quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten if your customers cant see his work , hes a keeper .

Horrible to drive on tarmac but very competent off road , had one in the family for a while now Y reg 40k on clock , paid £250 for it in Auction 5 yrs ago and now I'd get £2,500 /£3k for it easy . Madness just pure madness what they fetch .

My thoughts entirely Rory . If I had to wait with customer then I'd class that as down time and down time comes at a cost to my wallet , I charge more than the card terminal company charges me for my own time . Done it twice now , both took bloody ages , 4 hours plus we had to keep customer happy in shifts , just because she didn't have her card with her , been cheaper to deliver it and take the terminal with us for payment Other one was the same , hour and half of purgatory with customer going hope it goes thru " well your not taking it till it does i thought . As I said though it does depend on the size of each traders operation and how busy they are though . But to you knew starters , when you get bigger , presuming you do i guarantee your new friend will be the Card terminal
-
When you get busy and sell to more customers , you seriously haven't the time for bank transfers , as much as I like them for being free I cannot justify not having a card terminal . Today 3 customers all together , two finance applications , both wanted to pay deposits on card , The other guy wanted to pay debit card and go , Card terminal was hot to take £12,000 + and enable the customers to collect and go . I haven't got the time to check payments have gone in , cant be asking people to wait for clearance as I want them gone too , Got things to do eg ; next customer , prepping , tel calls , emails , loading stock , and all the other jobs we all have in this industry . The more business you put through a card terminal the more companies want your business and will lower their rates A LOT to get you on board . 98% of our sales are debit cards for either deposits , finance deposits or total sales , 2% is bank transfer or cash and normally its the small stuff "PX and such " that's a cash or transfer . We DONT take credit cards for car sales though the exception is for "service invoices eg , tyres , selling polishes , Cloths , Number Plates and Engine services , repairs , diagnostics and such ." then I don't mind Credit cards . So the answer is , depends on how busy you are as to if you can manage without a terminal . Wouldnt entertain the weird types of card jobbies personally , cash , transfer OR a bona fida terminal from eg Barclay card and the rest of the others , Payzone , transax etc Just my view mind .

Probably got wrong oil in it , Some just put 10w/40 in and they run shite " might the mid range issue " on any other than proper Ford spec 5w/30 fully They are oil sensitive I know that from experience of some px self serviced shit we get in . Oil Filter inc 5w/30 Ford spec fully , and a thrashing can bring readings down . Lamba might do it too though -
Found out he had to fix an auction car probably Sounds easy doesn't it , buy from auction and sell for huge profits , retire to the sun Back to the daily job and a safe wage no doubt ,

Been very quiet here for a couple of weeks really , still sold some but not the usual buzz in last couple of weeks . Today I came prepared to drink coffee , catch up , have a chat , Being Mothers day BUT had one guy waiting for me this morning , two calls as I unlocked and they came too an hour later . Two people decided to collect today instead of in the morning So sold 3 and they left the building , with the two collections we lost five in two half hours . Result , No coffee , No chat , Should of finished early today for family lunch but now waiting for another customer . " I cant say no " Never tell in this job can you , No pattern, no reason , just either flat out or stationary . Hope it picks up for you that's having it slow ,

Only the basic report is visible to the public . No finance , No cat c/d /s/n showing . Any more and they have to buy the experian report for around £15 or £25 ish for 5 checks . I looked on one of our own adverts when it started .
-
That's fraud , hope you can prove it too . talk about a set up Another lesson though is to CHECK invoices every time
-
That's exactly what i told the guy on the phone , ALL pro dealers can be seen checking cars cant they , Total insult to us all in my mind . AND I TOLD HIM SO TOO
-
If your not aware there are trials at a couple of BCA auctions going on right now were they have introduced another check system . For cars without the assured report they are trialling a check that checks lights , horn , indicators , and a few simple checks . All for the sum of £7.50 per car . With this so called check there is no claims procedure at all . Seems to be another way of attaining £7.50 x a few thousand cars to me . they have phoned me to ask if I like it or not so I said no as every pro trader looks at those items anyway so why charge us £7.50 . I bought over 300 cars last year from BCA and if that was all essential checked my bill would have been in the region of £2,500 or approx £50 a week . What will these crooks think of next to skin money from us . I would tell your local auction how you feel the next time your on the email system , if we all shout loud they might back down . Never know . Or Is it a good idea ?

Branching out into other areas of business

Do this job correctly and with interest and you shouldn't have time for gyms , spars , beauty parlours and photo booths . Have to decide if your running a car dealership or a poodle parlour . Next thing you know Gyms ,poodle parlours and beauty salons will be selling cars and that would really make us mad wouldn't it -
Cant see how you can choose a target mkt these days myself as every ones online looking at adverts . All customers are different , some think they know how it all works , others haven't a clue but if they have the means to pay they are very welcome . Cant judge a book by it's cover these days either not like a few years ago , I have had some dodgy looking characters on face value come to view cars , but they are the nicest people ever , some suited and booted types are horrible people , all left after paying though . How do you not sell locally , wait till the invoice is filled in and ask them to leave because your too close I like all people providing they have the money to spend , not bothered about what they wear or if they are affluent or not . We sell in the same price bracket 6k/20k and you get all sorts from every angle of life . Sub prime finance people are getting the norm now too , but they've been to rent some dosh ltd and will pay you debit card /cash / bank transfer . Regards kids , well "man comes in and likes the car " , but wants to bring the wife/ girlfriend back "it happens " they come back with two kids , at what age are they asked to leave ? Might find the new generation are a little different too a few years ago I'm thinking , we would all like to achieve your ideal sales model buts its really not like that nowdays in my opinion anyway All the best in your chosen selling model though , hope it works well

Ah forgot that typical VAG fault , we get them on SEAT's and Golfs all the time , mostly rear doors same locks as the R32's know doubt They are useless
-
Trouble with the VAG TSI engines now though is the bloody chain really wants changing for the updated version with new tensioner . They get very expensive to prep , leaving not much profits in the things . Time you've finished spending and paying margin VAT the profits only pennies if your lucky half the time . People pay way too much for these cars in auctions then finding the spend is eating profits like water down a drain pipe ,The others that do nothing to these cars must be running the " I've just bought this car and its misfiring " call gauntlet + whats the warranty cover call . At that point it gets very expensive doesn't it because your in the hands of the other garages and their labour charges . Your lucky you found the problem in my mind before Joe public found it . Hope it goes ok for you now when you get it back and sold .

Recovery of a vehicle under the Consumer Rights Act

This is basically the trouble with the modern society isn't it . 90% of people are aggressive from word go when a fault occurs . Lets google the latest pillock that writes online about a subject he doesn't even know about and then spout that clap trap in an aggressive manner because my 70,000 mile £2,000 car has got an EML light on . 1 ;I know my rights , its your fault , you must have known it was faulty , I can reject it , It was there from when i collected it . I want it fixing free . NOW , Instead of ring ring 2; Hello my names !!!!! you know the !!!!!! I bought last week its developed an EML light and just thought if I popped in you might look at it for me please . Your buying a USED car that's been round the world Three times and has multiple people driving it , hundreds of moving parts that DO wear . Its NOT new so respect it and don't expect a new one . When / If something does go wrong its because cars DO wear out on a variable time span till we throw them away . Plus its always better to be polite at first and its probably going to get any faults done so much quicker . This was based on real life last week , Lad buys a Corsa , two weeks later EML comes on , its needed a Lamba probe when we plugged it in , When its in stock I'll ring you I said . OK lad goes thanks . Left him message NEXT day , Hi Parts in , you ok to pop in and we will fit while you wait . He didn't get the message , didn't open his messages . Two days later dads on phone threatening to bring it down and leave it here , I told him to listen to his sons messages and wind his neck in . Son came down , said dad was a horrible aggressive lunatic that never gets anything done because of his attitude . We fitted his Lamba and he was off happy without getting worked up ., Mum phoned me to apologise about husbands aggressive manner So billy joe public calm down and be nice , stop reading tripe online and you may well live a long and happy life getting small and large problems that do come to haunt everyone at times fixed in a timely professional manner . But do also remember we can tell when YOU are not telling us the full whole truth and nothing but the truth .
